Finally in the body shop!

Looks like they're doing some quality work. Wish my bodywork skills were at that level.

I've been busy getting things ready to put back in the Chrysler. The interior needs a little TLC. Part of dealing with a convertible is the interior gets beat up from the sun and weather.

I have a new carpet from Trim Parts to replace the sun bleached one and I decided I have to address the door panels. One of the previous owners figured the plastic sheet wasn't needed and the panel boards have gotten bad.

I started with the rear door that has an interesting repair.

Yes, those are Popsicle sticks.

I stripped the vinyl off the panel.

I traced it on some new panel board.

The top panel wasn't painted on the back, so it was rusty and nasty looking. The paint on the front pulled off with the vinyl.

I blasted and primed/painted with Duplicolor engine enamel.

Cut out and attached to the top panel. I used a hot melt glue gun to attach the panel to the board.

The glue worked OK, but it didn't lay down as flat as I wanted it to, so I clamped it and hit it with my heat gun to remelt the glue.

Glued the vinyl back on.

The vinyl is old and dry and it has pulled off its foam backing in places. The results are OK with a little bit of wrinkling that I can't pull out. They are not as nice as I'd like it, but a lot better than it was.

They slowed down the pace for about a week to catch up on some other cars that needed to get finished, but they still made some progress.

The car is all block sanded and they are getting the final primer coat on.

I can only dream about a total body n paint for my Polara. ..

Looking really nice!

Very nice work. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Looks great Big John. You'll be rewarded for the patience your taking now. The memory of All the prep work will fade when you can look at the finished product.

Looks like you've found a great shop, they are really doing some nice work.

The good news!!

It's brown!

The bad news.... It's not going to be done in time for Carlisle.....

Looks good, may not be in time for Carlisle but looks like it will be done soon

Ah, but there's always Moparfest! Got your passport?

I want to do Moparfest sometime. It's about 4 hours from here (same as Carlisle) and yes, I have my passport!

Hmmm... Mrs. Big John does want to go to Niagara Falls for a couple days....

What is the name of the body shop that is doing your work and where are they located? Thanks John.
