Fuselage - Drums to Disc Brake Conversion

How did that work out for ya Stan. Did it change the cars stance any.....?
I ordered "stock height, heavy duty (one extra leaf)" so the stance is the same. Rides about the same, maybe a touch firmer. The only thing that changed is I eliminated the ONE squeeky bushing.
Maybe it was a little overkill. lol.
WTF, it's only money...

I changed my leaf springs back to a stock height and got rid of the local spring shop "rebuilt" springs. The car rides so much better and now all the bushings and shackles are right, it handles better too.

The only issue I had was I can't lift anything heavy because of my eyes. So it was a lot of using the floor jack to get things in place. The impact wrench makes it easier. It still took me twice as long as it would have 20 years ago.

So my spindles show up today....FINALLY. The backing plate on one of the these is trashed; bent back in two different ways.......but guess I'm replacing those anyways...

IMHO those dust shields are optional. I did away with them when I did the swap on my 66 for the same reason. No ill effects as far as I can tell.

They don't repro the C-body ones AFAIK.

Yeah, Im thinking about going that route too.

Do I want to reuse the same cotter pins I pulled out of the castle nuts holding the spindle assy together?

BIG shiny disc brakes...throw contents of back seat clear thru the windshield now, not a prob.

LOL I did that once ... contents was my little brother. I was driving Dad's 71 Fury with the Discs and he was driving my 4 speed RR that day. When I hit the spot up the road where I normally shifted to second I hit the BIG ' disc brake equipped ' or whatever it said, brake pedal where I was expecting a clutch pedal and things came to a halt like RIGHT NOW ! hehe. Thank goodness no one was hurt .. I was only doing about 25 but 25 to zero is quite a shock in a nano second.

if you dont mind me asking about how much did everything end up costing? I havent tried to price everything out yet but summit racing has a kit and was wondering if it was worth what they are asking.

We can wait for 70_Nports reply, but I bet it will be 1/2 of Summits price, and factory equipment
