How much of a job for a '68 Newport w/o air?
Labor rate varies From Pablo's Auto Repair & Tacos at $30.00/hr. to a car dealer's shop at $130.00/hr.
Labor itself will be a minimum of 8 hrs if done correctly.
YMMV
While you're in there it's stupid to not also deal with the evaporater also.
More $$.

C Body vs. B Body, but I put a new core into my Buddy's '68 GTX Hemi. Took me about two hours. Box was only held in by three nuts, very similar to the '70 Challenger I had.How much of a job for a '68 Newport w/o air?

Yes, I had one fail in my 2000 Ram pickup. Evaporator, and Heater Core, cost me $1,100.00 for everything.I agree on the labor time with Stan.
Has anyone ever had an evaporater actually fail? I haven't, so I was just wondering? It still might be a good idea to replace it, but I was just wondering whether this is at all likely or not?

You get to solving this problem? Can anyone give me a rough estimate on what it would cost me in labor to replace the heater core in a 1973 Chrysler Newport with ac?
You get to solving this problem?
I am in the same boat with what I suspect is a leaking heatercore on my 65 Chrysler 300 AC car, so would need a dual core to replace (even though my AC system died long ago). Not sure about doing the evaporator as the AC isn't working anyways?
If you ever plan to repair the A/C system, this would be a good time to at least inspect and pressure check the evaporator core. If the system has been left open with the hoses disconnected, the A/C evaporator may be junk. If you plan to leave the system disconnected, there is no reason to replace the evaporator. Worth giving them a call, thanks for the contact.Mac's Radiator on Foster Road, but I do not know if they will pull the core, I know that they repair radiators etc.
