I don't want to be told (by the gub'ment) what doctor I have to see, nor do I want to pay for someone elses' health insurance woes. That's why we have strong feelings about it.

And I know I have never been told what doctor I can see or not. I think the big difference is the premiums faced by our southern neighbours.

Well it's in the correct section..."General/Anything goes". Might not be a popular topic, but still, someone has every right to post it up IMO.
I'll wade in a little on this. Being Canadian I have never know any other type of medical system. But I can see the problems this type of system creates. It is still a multi tiered system, everyone is not treated equally, nor the same. I have been in emergency, with many others, and have watched as a prison inmate is ushered in, by passes all admitting procedures, and has a doctor looking after them before any of the hard working tax payers!!
Then there is the corporate morons making all the "financial" decisions. With a gov't run institution you don't need to fix the problems, you just throw more tax payers money at it.
I could go on and on. The private insurance medical system is the best system in my opinion. You get what you pay for.

Don't know enough about Obamacare to really compare. I don't share the same fear of government involvement because I've known nothing else. Same great family doctor for 20 years and emergency care 24/7. All they ask you for is a health card. Its not perfect as anything with government tends to have a bloated bureaucracy.

Ever wonder why Canadians, Brits, Mexicans, and nearly any other nationality that has a single-payer medical system, desire and find a way to get care in the United States? It's because we have (soon to be "had") the best medical system in the entire world! Capitalism works everywhere it's tried. Socialism does not! O-care nationalizes nearly 20% of the US economy. It is DESIGNED to fail, so that the Feds can step in, "save the day" and inflict single-payer health care on all...EXCEPT the elites, of course, who will be able to see who they want at taxpayer expense! Read, study, research, and KNOW what the hell the government has in store, boys and girls!

You are entitled to your opinion and are free to express it here. IMHO one of the reasons membership here has grown is there is no big brother trying to keep you on the straight and narrow. We are essentially self policing. Hell we police the moderators more than they police us.

Really!? Guess that's why so may American's are up here pretending to be Canadian seeking care at our clinics. We've had to introduce high tech cards to keep out these scammers.
