Holley Sniper II or 4BBL Carb Upgrade?

Please keep us updated as you work through your upgrade, whichever route you go. Photos would be nice, too.

Some photos of mine if you want to see the Holley parts and TTI headers/exhaust and some other details:

Moses Sandals!!!!!! I just looked at your car! CLEAN and NICE!!! Mine is a true survivor and has some weight reduction issues in all the typical problem areas. I just tell people those holes are for drifting...(I watch a lot of VGG and TG/GT so that's where some of my humor/attempted humor comes from)
I'll post some current pictures to give y'all an ideal of what I'm starting with. Again, this is my first car and I still have it. Not many people my age can say they still have their first car.

Know a guy who's got an AVS2 carb on his. Have driven and ridden in it quite a few times now. It really is the closest thing to full-on fuel injection if you want to keep it carbed. Throttle response is wonderful.
I've got an AVS2 sitting in my room waiting to get bolted onto my 383, I'd normally go fuel injection but the cost of the whole shebang down here in Australia is ridiculous. You guys across the pond get everything so cheap...

I want to increase performance of my all original '67 Monaco. It's a Base model, not a 500 unfortunately, with the 383 block of bigs and a 2BBL carb. I'm going to upgrade and just trying decide if I want to go with a Holley Sniper II or 4BBL carb. Both options require a new intake. Any suggestions/recommendations? Also looking for recommendations on a few other upgrades coming up: Headers, disc brake conversion (fronts only more than likely), finding tail light lenses/assemblies, 16" wheel sizes (correct offset and width). Thanks in advance.
Hi, I have the Sniper 1 with everting distributor etc. for about 3 years+ It's time to convert to the sniper 2. The reason why is I'm having some problems with it. We tuned the car and locked it out from self learning initially, that worked great for a while, then we put some self learning parameters on, that also worked for a while but it's just not right. I have a shop do my work. It's worth the $$ I will have the new one on in about a week. I'll let you know how it work's. I have heard nothing but good thing's about it.

Throwing in my 2 cents. I've run Holley/Brawler and Eddy AVS carbs on a few cars and the last 2 I went from a Brawler to Sniper 1 (Not too impressed as it was finicky) and the Fury I went from a 2bbl, to 4bbl AVS then to the Sniper 2. The Sniper 2 is soooo much better. Car starts WAY easier, zero RFI issues etc and drivability is just so much nicer than the AVS too, which is a REALLY nice street carb. I did an in tank pump and dead headed it to the Sniper, I have a thread here somewhere about the pump so look it up.

I didn't know about the Fitech pump!

Just to confirm Jengel, was that with the AVS or AVS2? If I recall correctly, the main (probably only) difference between the two is that the AVS2 has annular flow primary boosters which result in a fuel spray pattern/atomisation much closer to a fuel injector's - this is what allows the significantly improved throttle response off the line compared to the original and other conventional carbs. The secondaries don't have these boosters because annular flow boosters lose their effectiveness at higher engine speeds.

With my mate's car with the AVS2 that I drove, I'd go so far as to say that if you kept the hood closed and let a fellow car nut drive it, they wouldn't think twice if you told them it was converted to EFI.

good question and for sure I wasn't clear. It was the AVS2. I do like the carb, but the Sniper2 just is that much better for a daily driver. Not to mention no more heat soak, I could never totally get rid of it on hot days even with a 1" composite spacer.

I'm keeping that eddy around just as "Buddy Carb" when someone needs to get something running. it's stupid easy to tune.

Fair enough. I would totally rock a Sniper 2 if it weren't so insanely expensive here. If I had Jay Leno amounts of cash I'd go so far as to try a port fuel injection setup; do a "what if Chrysler made the Plymouth Fury but with 2020s materials and tech" build.

From what I've seen, many problems people had with their EFI setups was the result of not shielding the wiring enough from EMI/RFI.

I should start a sniper bootlegging operation....I'm sure that's been done and busted already though.

add me to the list of interested buyers haha. they go for almost 1700 usd around here, and that's not including other stuff like an electronic fuel pump or return lines

Old Sniper 1 bottom of pic & new Sniper 2 top of pic & new fuel pump. I did have an external pump before. Work in progress.
