Yes, we love our C-bodies but they ain't makin' those anymore. :icon_winkle:

Its also obvious many of us like all kinda nice "machines" from many vehicle manufacturers (including trucks, big and little).

If you had to bet what vehicle you and many other people will be "drooling over" 20-30-40 years from now (assuming what's on the road now will be able to be driven into the future ..ya never know what regulations will be then), what would you snap up today?

Forbes Magazine says here's the Top 10 2014 vehicles likely to be future collectibles (my bet in parens):

http://www.forbes.com/sites/hannahe...the-best-modern-collectible-cars-of-the-year/

1. Dodge Challenger Shaker (YEP)
2. Alfa Romeo 4C (DUNNO-NO KNOWLEDGE OF VEHICLE)
3. Nissan 370Z NISMO (PROBABLY)
4. Chevrolet COPO Camaro (YEP)
5. Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (YEP)
6. Ford Fiesta ST (NOPE)
7. Mazerati Ghibli S (DUNNO-NO KNOWLEDGE OF VEHICLE)
8. BMW M5 (YEP)
9. Jaguar F-Type R (PROBABLY)
10. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X 9 (DUNNO-TOO SOON)

We all know there's gonna be "old stuff" on the road decades from now. Nice old stuff too...but truly "collectible" in the eyes of the many (e.g, fetchin' big bucks at auction, "rough" ones selling for thousands, a club devoted to them, big shows in central PA, etc.) versus the few who just love 'em to death?

Pick one or two (from 1990 and newer, car or truck) that you think will stand the test of time and wind up in the "Hall of Fame" of collectibles decades from now and post a pic. Include anything that may be "unappreciated" now but you predict big things for down the road?

I"ll start: I'd by 5 of each of them if I could..(Hellcat, ZL1 Camaro, Z06 Corvette, SRT8 300)

The best collectible or sought after is what people didn't want then. From the other post the SRT 300 may be the one.

Saying that, I don't think there will be much of a collector market in 40 years

I forgot this one...its underappreciated I think and more people will come to like it over the years.

Love 'em..dont know much about whether they are collectible (the blue one is from another thread on the site) but I'd like to have one..

yep, a case can surely be made for that possibility.

i'm not quite ready to bet on it yet tho...i kinda wanna see how rest of the decade plays out :tiptoe:

Chrysler Corporation's attempt to break into the long haul Class 8 truck market.
Total failure. Very small numbers.
Extremely cool looking.
= collectable. Truck restorers are trying to locate every last one made.

Most noteworthy feature: Study the cab.
Yep. Same cab. Talk about parts bin engineering...

Oh man, chop that top, bob the nose just a tad and lay it out.. mmmmmm nice...

Ok ok all joshin' aside, it's a nice looking tractor.

Very collectable

Production numbers below are all of it ?
Must have been hell for any owner to have These serviced and getting spare parts, or was this all out of the bin from other models ?

1973
1974 1975
8 Sold in the U.S.
91 Sold in the U.S. 91 Sold in the U.S.
2 Sold in Canada
25 Sold in Canada 43 Sold in Canada

Dodge did not "manufacture" the truck. They assembled it.
Except for body pieces of course, it was built with parts from manufacturers that were in the HD truck market.
E.G.
Engines, Cummins
Transmission, Fuller
Suspension, Hendrickson
Fifth wheel, Holland
Wheels, Budd
Even the turn signals were off the shelf. Everything was.
If a facility could fix a Mack, White, International, Kenworth, it could fix anything on the Dodge.

The "gone but not forgotten" ones...GMC Syclone and Typhoon. underappreciated even today I think.

Made 1992 and 1993 only, turbo charged V6's (think 1987 Grand National Buick), 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, gone before they even had a chance (rumored to be a cost-cutting measure...every one lost money for GM).

One of the fastest trucks I ever drove...never bought one tho.

I'm "lurkin" around these..Jeep SRT8 ... before Fiat/Chrysler sends them the way of the 300 SRT8 (just speculatin'...havent seen/heard that about the Jeep version anywhere) and then the older ones get a price bump.

Unappreciated...if you don't recognize it, and what it could do, it wouldn't surprise me. :icon_winkle:

it probably means you didnt live in Michigan where all 'em were in company car service..not many were seen/sold around the country it appears. doused with the brand discontinuance, it was only made 2008 and 2009 model years.

rated at "415/415", 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, vented Brembo's, six-speed Tremec "manny", etc...fun, fun car.

I vote for a Mazda Miata. It's one of the sweetest-driving cars ever built. They made a ton of them, but they're cheap, so they're being abused, and finding a clean one is hard because club racers are snapping them up. In 30 years, they'll be rare, and collectible.

interesting...you have one on a list of vehicles and years made compiled by these folks, cheapest you'll find them is now they say.

i have never heard of them but by reputation they apparently target men 25-45 years old (my bet in parens)

10. Mazda Miata, 1990-2005 (PROBABLY)

I know this one is earlier than the 1990/newer date I suggested in the opening post.

I arbitrarily picked that year beause it probably takes 5-10 years after they go outta production before some models show collectibility trends ... and we are trying to guess on the winners folks will be jonesin' for about decades from now.

Anyway, must only be a handful of these left around, and maybe I don't travel in truck circles nearly as much as I should, but I have never seen one in person and never hear folks talking about them...unlike its more famous cousin the Lil Red Truck.

Cool truck..R/B-powered I hear?

In a sense, you could say that about all truck manufactures. Maybe Mack is the only one different making their own drivetrain. The Gold Bulldog on the hood -Mack powered. Chrome -anything else. I'm guessing at this one, but the Dodge cab over & the White coe shared the same cab.
