Interesting FABO rant about FCBO...

I am sure of that, but pulling an engine from a car for another isnt necessarily wrong. As you already know some have to die so others will live, but even you can admit that they respect an Impala / Caprice or a Galaxie more than the Mopar guys will respect a Newport...

I don't notice that so much, what I DO notice is that there's a general lack of respect for 4-door cars, and a lot of C-bodies are 4-door. 2-door Galaxies get a lot of love, but a 4-door LTD? Nah. Same for an Impala. One of the few exceptions is a suicide-door Lincoln, or a 4-door 57 Chevy.

2 drs., 4 drs., Coupes, hardtops, wagons, convertibles,.....
Respect them all.
Don't turn 4 drs. into hot rods/rat rods.
Don't Sawzall off the roof of a hardtop to make it a topless "roadster".
Don't hack a wagon into a Something-amino.
Don't put headers on an Imperial.
Don't tub any C-body.
Don't dump 3 grand into wheels and tires when the ¼'s look like a sieve.
Don't be an effen asswipe. Period.

Worst FCBO post ever.
Send that pic off to Delete Permanently Heaven and put that little red X in there.

No. Not by a long shot. The anatomically correct halloween costume shot was the absolute worst. . .

fcbo rant - General Discussion - Mopar Forum

A guy was complaining about how "hard it is to get on the forum here", when one guy replied with this:

***
they should ask relevant questions to the c-body crowd on average.

like:

how many wheels does a walker have?

what flavors does Ben-gay ointment come in ?

what was your first car ...hint (horse drawn carriage)

how many ounces does the small tube of Fixodent come in?

really FBBO or here is going to be more entertaining and informative.

***

Gotta admit, that DOES apply to a few here!

They are just jealous. An "A"-body has such a crap ride, they would LOVE to have the ride quality of a "C"-body!

My computer slowed to a crawl while I was on that site. That's all I can comment on.

I've never spent any time on any of the other "for... ...only sites.

Never needed to.

Yes sir!

Ok Guys I am going to show my age here. I have owned "A" bodies, "B" bodies, "C" bodies, and "D" bodies. While the small cars are fun to play with, nothing beets the room in the back seat of a big car, better seats and more options.

An older brother, a cop said he would much rather be in a Big Plymouth at 130+ chasing someone than any A or B body car. Safer, more stable, and the 440 TNT still hauled ***. Plenty of room in the back seat as well, once he caught the guy.

Yeah, big back seats have their upsides...

I've owned A's, B's, C's, and pre-50s. The only negative thing I can really say about the "A" body is that they were obviously made to be low-cost and came off "cheaper" than the others in a few odd ways. I never liked the fact that they allowed the fuel filler tube to cut diagonally through the usable trunk space in the early 70s A-bodies, or that the factory A/C looked like an under-dash unit. That was just being cheap. But the rest of the platform? Scaled- down mostly B-body engineering, nothing wrong with it at all. And fast as heck with some power under the hood.

That filler tube always made me think of an engineer going "oh crap where are we going to stick the filler tube?"

The trunk size on the Dart mandated the tire in the floor. Consequently, no filler tube under the License plate would work. My 68' Charger has the same issue, that was a styling decision.

Other cars in the lineup used a sorta "S" shaped filler tube to go down the fender and into the side of the tank without taking up trunk space, though. That diagonal pipe was had to just be a punt to save money on the A-body. My folks '66 Satellite was that way- it was one of the few-ish Mopars of the time to have a fender filler cap, and there was a "double wall" on the drivers side trunk interior with an access panel where the filler neck dropped down below the trunk. It did make the trunk maybe 2" narrower, but it didn't go righ through the middle of it. Gas station attendants (no self-serve back then) ripped the license plate off the car more than once trying to lift it to get at a filler that wasn't there!

True the Satellite did, but that B body had more room on the side of the trunk to run the fuel tube , and the shape of the tank allowed an outlet to be on the rear left side. However, that in itself was also a lousy design, as during refill the fuel would burp back out. I own one, and every 67' I have does it.

My 67 Dart does feel "cheaper" than the Polara, but I wasn't looking for anything but a simple, mostly stripped car. The A/C was already out, and the rod sticking out the side of the /6 that knocked the starter off the trans helped clear the way to make it how I wanted. As for the fuel filler pipe, I never planned on much stuff going in there but the battery and maybe a fuel cell.

You just reminded me - I used to have a '68 Dart that I totally forgot about! Only owned it for a week or two, someone came along that wanted it badly enough to pay more than I did for it. ($250 vs $175!)

This thread is funny, reminds me of other hobbies where one group feels superior because 'anyone with a brain just KNOWS' xyz is better. I always thought someone who needs to run another person or group down based on some sense of superiority (especially over a HOBBY) needs more help than I'm qualified to give.

Have owned vehicles from a '73 Lincoln to an Austin Mini (the real one, not the bloated BMW version). The mini was the cheapest POS of all, had rubber bumpers instead of shocks and a tiny plastic gas tank that looked more like an overflow jug. But it was a blast to drive, handled like a go kart and got 50+ mpg. The $500 Lincoln was equally fun, for completely different, C-Body-like reasons.

There's room at the table for everyone. If that makes no sense to you, look at it this way: There are C Bodies for us, and everything else for the masses. ;)

Brand religion is a funny thing. Poking fun is fine, I do it all the time. Some people are wayyyy to serious (think Harley Davidson).

It's ridiculous for A body guys to demerit C body guys.
I think the A body thing that started this, there are some strong opinions in here regarding hot rodding a C body. Some guys are rather blunt, maybe not intentionally, but it can turn a noob off.

I think the only way to settle this with those condescending pricks is with a drag week type contest.

Pull a travel trailer 500 miles (steep hills included),each additional person to the driver scores points dogs score extra as well, then a drag strip day, grocery store challenge, followed by drive in night.

"Old age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance."

I love my 69' dart, and A bodies have been in the family as long as the B and C bodies that we raised the kids in. I don't see any real difference in Quality, just size. As the car gets smaller, design limitations come into play. The three bodies were designed for three different markets,if you ever looked close at a Nova VS an Impala, the same rule applies.
