Lift is pissing out hyd. fluid.

Isn't that the bleeder. My cylinders are the other way but the only seals are on the ram piston and on the shaft itself.
I talked to a company that servicesthe lifts for most of the dealers around here.
Here is the exact conversation.

Me: When I raise the lift fluid shoots out of the vent at ........

Him: ....the top of the cylinder. The seal is shot. Gotta replace it. What kind ya got. Probably Chinese. They all do that....

:gah:

FWIW, my lift was made in America. I dont know where the cylinders came from. No markings.

Remove two cylinders
Drive an hour 45.
Drop them off.
Drive back...

Meanwhile I have a car stuck in the air yelling, Lemme down! Lemne down!
Sorry hon. You are stuck up there for a while.

That's the problem with stuff marked "Made in America". The components may be assembled in the USA, but those components (like this cylinder) were sourced from China.

I called out a guy on here that was advertising his wiring harnesses were "Proudly made in the USA". No one in the states makes the relays that he was using. He still advertises on other sites as USA made.

Just saying !!!!!!!! :sFl_america2:

Did they mention inspecting the cylinder ram and see if it needs to be polished? A lot of times the ram can have a burr and it rips up seals....and will do it again with a new seal.

Excellent point, Bob. I'll make sure to ask about that. Thanks.

O rinngs on the shaft, correct?

Most hydraulic cylinders have wiper seals and good ones have a brass wear sleeve that is suppose to protect the ram and the cylinder from scarring and tearing up parts and creating oil leaks.

Just a generic exploded view...

Mostly it may be a problem of seal or it may also be the motor problem too...
Impossible with zero % chance. Absolutely.
It's not the therm.... er, sorry... it is not the motor

Part of yesterday was spent simply vehicle wrangling using neighbor's driveways, etc. To finish up the day, I had to put the Newport up in the air and I was done. When raising the Newport, the lift motor started to struggle badly and then the motor started burning up. OMG! I had to get that car up in the air or I would have a serious storage logistics nightmare. So I said, Screw it and went for broke. The lift barely made it to the last lock when the
motor went out out shooting flames.

Simply said, ended up costing me $340.00. :soapbox:

How long have you had the lift? Cylinders still under warranty?

Got both cylinders rebuilt and I got them back in. F#%@ that was a ball buster when you're by yourself.
Anyway, that was another 300 bucks... :sad5:
