I'm assuming the title is in your name. If so your DMV should be able to re-issue you a title for a fee. Maybe a internet search will show someone reproducing vin plates if you show proof your the owner. My state (WI.) will issue a new vin in certain cases where the vehicle is inspected.

I wish, like a lot of us I never title the car until I begin work on it....

Backwards... I title the car at the first moment possible... You typically have to go through 4 or 5 cars a year before you get any static for too many... I also tend to not sell much.

Pennsylvania the title is transferred to your name upon purchase. You don't have to register but you MUST title.

Contact who you purchased the car from, it must still be titled in their name. You'll have to work it out that way.

The first part of the Vin can be figured out by what the car is, type of engine, assembly plant and YOM. The rest is the build sequence, which can be found somewhere on the car. Perhaps someone can tell you where to look on your 65.
You'll have a rough time getting a new VIN tag with no verification of ownership though.
You might also search for a broadcast sheet, usually somewhere in the seats or interior.

Thanks for the help, the cars are 2 65 L 300 Converts, Im screwed big time... all the info was lost in a move last month, I think it was thrown away by my wife..lol Chrysler has the paper work to trace the seq- numbers on the data plates, which would tell you the vin number.....They wont give it up....lol

I thought it was only one 300L, now it's two? How did you loose the VIN plates?

I believe you are screwed. Most states have very strict regulations regarding VINs to prevent fraudulently registering a car with a different VIN. This is to prevent stolen cars from being registered with a VIN from a junkyard.

If you post a question, it would seem you are soliciting advice. If you're looking for any means to do this, maybe check with a car thief.

That's a shame. Without that info it will even be hard to sell the cars except for parts. Why were the VIN tags removed in the first place, not a wise thing to do.

In my experience, you're probably screwed... The only thing I know of that might help, see if your state offers a bonded title. As to the VIN... that may become a new can of worms. You need the DMV or a Title Agency if your state has independents.

BTW, nobody is looking to do you wrong in here, in fact you have found a great place for help when we can provide it. You are in an open forum, you did post a request, try to be a little more open to the information you receive.

Great answer cantflip.

Yes lighten up Francis

you lost two separate welded on vin tags, and the titles? cmon man. you'll need to find someone who can stamp you a reproduction tag. call your insurance company, or the old man's insurance company, and see if they had your vin on file. dp you still have your fender tags in place? they should have enough info to get a chunk of the vin.

www.datatags.com can replace lost vin plates with proof of ownership. If you cant get your original titles replaced (say because you never put them in your name or don't know who the previous owners were) than your best option is to purchase clean vintage titles from an automotive paper seller. Auto-Roundup Magazine out of WV lists many dealers of old titles all over the country. I can say this: it is going to cost a minimum of $400 & probably more per car. You are NOT screwed you just have to be willing to do what must be done. I know of one title seller who has EVERYTHING! but he doesn't do business thru the mail, you must find him at a car show. Point is: there ARE titles exactly like you need out there. Keep in mind: a title & a tag are simply 2 more difficult parts that must be located & money shelled out for. ALL cars need them & people are out there who provide the services. No advice: just useful info... Damn that was a stupid move! ;)

yes, 2..... The cars were sitting out back and I took the vins off so they wouldn't get stolen, the vins and titles were put into a small file cabinet, which I believe was thrown away during our move......
