Hmmm , i guess that was not the seller of the $1200,- 71 Monaco wagon...........

I recently told someone selling a car that I wanted the car they were selling, she gave me a similar story that is in the quotation. Then sold the car despite my being respectful of her situation. Dont let their position dictate the outcome of your purchase of the car.
I hear you. If the car had been in better condition with lower miles on it, I would have pushed a lot harder right then and there to close a deal. But I do have one of these sitting in the wings that is better overall with lower miles and while it isn't quite as nice as triple black, it is still going to be a looker.

The seller may be waiting a while to move these cars. Shouldn't a project like that be more in the 2K range?

Actually, without having seen the car in person, I concluded another $1 to $1.5K above your estimate would be more reasonable given that there are a lot of people who like those unique front ends, and finding a triple black one is the holy grail of those cars, as Stan has amply demonstrated. He did also say his mechanic looked under the car and said the underbody was very clean. Given that he seemed like an honest chap, I tend to believe him, but an eyes on evaluation would be warranted. He also said the interior was an 8 out of 10 and no cracks in the dashpad that he could recall. By the way, he said it is a 400-2 bbl engine and that it has a/c and rear defroster. He said he would send me a photo of the body code plate when he returns home. I will post what I actually do receive in terms of photos I requested, which include photos of the rusty areas.

Someone from this forum needs to go and see these cars and report back with photos and a description of their condition. Too many nice and hard to find projects in this collection.

Who is near Cincy?

You can count on me to check out the collection. I am probably only 1 1/2- 2 hours away. I will check them out and take my good camera for better pictures. I will go during the week if possible. I plan on sending a follow up email with my phone number.

Let me know and I will dig deep in any specific car. I am going to check out all the wagons in depth. Make a comment on the car you are interested in, I will make sure I go in depth. I will like you comment to let you know of your interest.

On the older models let me know if there is something specific I should look for, I know nothing about this cars.

I like that yellowish/gold 72 fury he has but can't tell if it's a two or 4 door with the plastic he has draped over it in the picture.

Good news the local Mopar expert/mechanic/restorer is going to go with me. He restored a beautiful 59 Imperial and is currently restoring a 36 Plymouth. I think we will be able to give an excellent evaluation on all the cars.

THAT 46 DODGE AND THAT 49 DODGE CORONET AT THE BEGINNING OF THE AD ARE NICE TOO.

I remain interested in the black 72 Monaco. It might be better than he described it, so photos of rusty areas including trunk floor and lower rear window area plus inside/outside quarters would help. A couple interior shots and engine bay plus body code plate as well. Those would be a great help! Thanks!

It looks like there are a couple of A bodies in pic 10. Maybe you wouldn't mind getting a little info on them too???

My friend who is going with me has a Super B clone and a Duster, and know the value of these cars and could give you a great assessment.

I don't believe he is interested in buying anything. He currently has at least one more car then he wants right now. He is retired and just going to give me his opinion.

The owner of the cars passed away not too long ago, and he did not pay storage fees for some 4 years, and the deceased's estate owners didn't want the cars. So I guess he paid back storage fees and got the cars that are now being sold.
Unfortunately, I have to play the Devil's advocate here, and wonder, with what Steve found out, if they even have titles... looks like a nice collection but if the old timer failed to pay for storage over the last 4 years, then passed away, chances are there are no titles to any of them and that could be big trouble. On the other hand... the prices could, or should, be very negotiable with out them. Don't get your hopes up too high, unless you're up to the challenge of dealing with the dmv of your choice. Just sayin

Honestly the titles were the first thing that popped in my head, and was going to be my first question.

During my discussion with him, I asked about titles and he said he was in the process of getting them now that he was the owner of the collection. Not sure that means he will be successful, but I didn't push him since that is no concern at least here in California.

I agree, and good luck dealing with Ohio on a title problem. AMHIK.
If you can get a day and time to go see these cars let me know, I might be able to meet you there, if you would want to do that.
