I am probably out. Read some legal items on storage in Ohio. Buying back storage fees does not give him ownership of the cars. He may even be innocent in the whole thing not knowing the law. The article stated automobiles and boats left in storage, in Ohio, are nearly impossible to sell without a title. Unless titles are produced I'm not touching this situation.
I would tend to agree with this assessment. From the looks of it he wants more than top dollar for the cars, and if that's the case then he can jump through the hoops to try to get clear titles for the cars, no matter what state you're taking the car to. In Ohio you MIGHT be able to get a title by going to another state first, but I wouldn't bank on it! Without a clear title in the name of the guy trying to sell them they are worth parts car prices, which to me would be about 10% of his asking price. That listing was posted on Craigslist 23 days ago, and I would bet that he hasn't sold even one car yet, although his less than prompt replies to emails surely isn't helping him.

The only way it would work is if you bought them dirt cheap, attempt to get the titles somehow, and if not part them out and recoup your layout. It's a big gamble.

I bought a 71 Fury III 2 Door coupe last summer, super cheap and took a chance that the title would show up. I had to move on it quick our it would've went to the scrap yard. I knew I could sell it for parts if necessary but after about 6 months the title finally in.

At those pie in the sky prices he should've done all the leg work and gotten the titles before even listing them. Then he could ask top dollar.

I gotta go with Kenny on this one. They have made it so hard to transfer a title in PA. even with title in hand and both parties standing there. Throw a wrench in any part of that and you will be waiting a while just for a answer.

He is legitimate. He said he had 5 titles already. I did in on search on the state title search on the 72 Monaco and it lists his company as the owner. Issued on June 27, 2017. Back in business.

YAY!

I have an appointment to see the cars on Saturday. As a respect for anybody here that's a contributor and is planning on seeing these cars themselves I won't give any more details right now. If you are interested in any PM me and let me know and I can give you the details I have, with a follow-up after Saturday.

I have a full list of the cars that I'll post later.

By the way I am interested in the 68 and the 72 Town and Country. I'm keeping the cards close to my vest, on this two unless I'm not interested after Saturday

The situation is likely to be different if he obtained the right to the cars from the deceased person's estate as opposed to being a random third party who just paid off the past storage fees.

I am a bit curious on the 1972 Monaco, it would be cool to hear he details and pricing. I am trying to stay away from any more project cars though...

Good luck I hope it works out for you! I hope you're not mad at us for pointing some title stuff out... Just trying to help one of our buds from getting burned.

I took no offense taken at all. I know you guys are looking out for me. I got home and realized the excel list he gave me has prices. He is asking stupid money for the stab wagons there is also a '66 Monaco. He will find out that they aren't worth what he is asking. The 70's wagons seem better priced unless they are a Plymouth.

I wish you luck, I hope you can get that '68 T&C so I can live vicariously through you!

A friend sent me the excel sheet as well. I deleted the asking prices since others are interested here. This was my take on the cars/prices.
