Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! I just wanted to update you guys on the Yorker! It's been a long month of waiting but it looks like tomorrow is finally the day I get my 68 delivered to my house for the start of the project. I bought it about a month ago now and had it in storage due to having a garage full of things. I cleared out the garage and cannot wait any longer so snow or no snow she's coming home and the journey will begin! I didn't look at all the comments, but try CTC Auto ranch in Texas CTC Auto Ranch He has several on his lot, and one looks like it has a good front bumper. Most have fenders
I just wanted to give a huge thank you to @Cazman and @Dana for helping me out with my carburetor situation! I just received it today and it looks great! I put it on the car bolted it up and it nearly fired... Then the starter went out! So as soon as I get a new starter I'll be posting videos and pictures! I just got the old one off and I'm gonna run to autozone tomorrow to get a new one ordered!

World Famous Barge in a Budget
Just order a starter for a 92 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.2L.
Basically a mini-starter that fits.
Better chance having it in stock,too.
Bolts right in and will turn over the big 440 with no problems.
Just cut the big plastic piece in the middle between the connectors that bolt onto the starter.
Done.

Get your old starter rebuilt! It will be WAY better than any auto store re-man or chinese junk. And it would be more original to car probably. I had a local shop rebuild my numbers-matching original 57 chevy starter and that sucker spins the 283 with gusto! High torq windings.
It actually had a non-oem starter on it and wasn't original to the car but I already got a new starter on and it fired up for about 5 seconds yesterday. Then the old battery died that's next!
So far it's got new plugs, the carb put on, new oil and filter, starter and it fired up and sounded great. I'm throwing a new fuel pump and filter on also just incase anything wants to go soon. I'm going to be buying a new water pump also. I just think it deserves as many new parts on it as possible as it hasn't been on the road in apparently 40 years.

You may want to dump a bottle of Seafoam in the gas tank.
I'm running a line from a gas can right now just incase. I'm going to further inspect the tank before I hook it up again. I didn't want to run that old of gas in it.

I would give a visual inspection on the tank and lines and if it all looks good then toss in a few gallons of gas, but make sure you install a clear fram G2 fuel filter "BEFORE" your fuel pump, and another after the fuel pump to catch any debris that might come through from the tank and lines.
I do this on all my motors that have a cam driven fuel pump not only does it stop any debris from going through the fuel pump so extends the life of the fuel pump greatly, it's also nice to monitor and crud coming through the fuel system.

Don't forget to replace the thermostat. Should be a 180 degree quality brand. Don't run it without a thermostat.
Hey Ripinator, I'd be curious as to why you advise not running the car without a thermostat. I ask the question with respect of course. Here in FLA I can rarely get the old cars to choke start because it's too warm year-round. I bypass the heater core because I never need heat inside the car. Warmup is rapid, and my Newport and my Riviera never overheat. I understand sludge can be an issue, but under what conditions? Thanks. Oh, and welcome aboard New Yorker in MI, it's great to see some Millenials getting into the old car hobby.

If you’re cooling system is working properly the thermostat impedes the flow to the point the engine heated fluid stays in the radiator for a bit to cool it down before letting it back in to the engine for another round. If you’re running without a thermostat you’ve got issues, I don’t care what the average temp is in your area.

I said what I did about the thermostat, because the engine runs noticeably better when it is up to temperature (180 or 195 degrees). I discovered this last summer when my water pump went out at Carlisle. When I replaced the water pump, I planned to replace the thermostat too, but when I removed the housing there was no thermostat there! I installed a 195 stat, and the engine ran so much better than before. I think the previous owner removed the stat, because he had overheating issues. When I bought the car, one of the first things I did was to have the radiator cleaned and repaired by a competent radiator shop. I think this action would have resolved the previous owner's overheating issue, because the car never over heated on me after that. Until this experience, I didn't realize how desirable it is to have your engine running at the proper temperature.
Go ahead and install a good 180 degree thermostat in you engine, and see what happens. . .
Do you remember where you got your new water pump from? I'm going to replace that aswell.
