Matt, on your '67, what is the material used in the black inserts on the seats? Is it a leather, vinyl, or fabric of some sort?

BTW, I posted a pic of the interior over at Edmunds Forums.
 
I think it's actually mohair fabric, Like the old stuffed bears.
I haven't heard of the Edmunds Forum, can you post a link to it?
 
So it's finally starting to warm up around here and I haven't had the Imp out yet this year and in fact I've only had it out once since I put the pertronics on it. The reason I upgraded to electronic was that it hadn't been running great since the late summer. Just sluggish under acceleration and since I had treated it to a full tune up in the spring I did not think to look at any of the new stuff I had replaced. Well it was a definite improvement going with the pertronics but still not great. I thought it was due to an old stretched out timing chain and a worn top end. Well I will be needing to move this car out of the shop to get those cement tops out next week so I thought I would fire it up and take it around the block. I was reminded immediately how poorly it continues to run so the ride was short and I pulled back into the shop a little dejected. I decided to have another quick look under the hood to check the plug wires and the timing. Checked the routing and connection on all the wires and all seemed ok so I figured I'd pull #1 plug and check TDC and pop the cap off the distributer. Out comes the sparkplug and what I found I could not immediately grasp, the gap had closed up to nothing and it appeared as thought the electrode was sticking out to far! Sure enough I grabbed a fresh plug and held them side by side and the electrode worked its way out of the plug and closed the gap completely...Champion plug. So I put the new plug in and went back out for another spin and wouldn't you know it, it's the best it has run since I have owned it! Maybe I can hold off on rebuilding the top end this year and concentrate on the front and rear suspension rebuild before Carlisle and even make some time for more cosmetic detailing too. So have any of you heard of this happening to a plug before?
 
I'm glad that the "problem" was so minor. I have personally never heard of a plug failure like that before....wierd.
 
What are the chances that it would be the #1 plug. I was or still am planning a leak down test soon so I would have found it then but I'm good with finding it last night!

Did a compression test last night and I'm shocked at the results. All but #1 were between 170 & 180 psi! I don't think I've ever had comp test readings that high even on a freshly rebuilt engine! I'm very pleased with that. The only troubling one was at 135 psi so I did a leak down test on it and it wasn't holding pressure. It sounded like most of it was leaking into the crank case but I also thought I heard it at the tailpipe too so hopefully its just a valve. Still planning the head swap along with cam and timing chain this spring.
heres a list of what needs done before Carlisle
front end rebuild
leaf springs replaced
4 shocks
gas tank cleaning and sending unit rebuild
full brake inspection
turn signal switch replace
Dash lights not working
auto pilot fix(pretty sure it's an easy fix)
replace all window motors with rebuilts using method from Mr C
modernize the AM/FM to stereo w/MP3 jack
some cosmetics as time allows.
that should about do it...
 
I just did a window motor clutch rebuild following Mr. C's tutorial. It works great. You'll have to use cleaning solvent to get all of that pulverized plastic chunks and grease out of it. I used hi-temp disc brake bearing grease to lube and assemble the clutch and gear.
