I'm working on a project to identify all C-bodies in a format that is easy to understand for Newbies and vets alike.
I need your help.
View the speadsheet and look at Column B.
As you look down the column, do you see any models missing?
Thanks.

Each year has different VIN classes
in 69
DL - Polara
DM - Polara 500
DH - Monaco
DP - Monaco 500

Probably holds true thru the other years and car lines.

MOPAR C-BODY LINE

Stan, just to clarify...are you looking for actual sub models as indicated by the second letter in the VIN? (PL, PE, PM, PP, etc)

PP - VIP
CL - Newport Custom

DM (70) and DL (71) - Polara Custom
DM (71) Polara Brogham

DS - Polara Special

Regarding Imperials:

D body was full frame, ended in 66. Imperials from 67-73 were not D bodies. They were C unibodies with unique stub frames to achieve the 127 inch wheelbase.; or stretch C bodies, if you will.

Newport Custom, Newport Royal, 300L for 65, Royal Monaco Brougham, Imperial Crown, Imperial LeBaron, Custom Suburban and Sport Suburban.

seems like a a worthwhile effort as commando1 opened with.

But, some things to sort out as polara71 (and others) says as to what words mean (1) "models" vs "model trim level" vs. "packages", vs "options". (2) C vs. D bodies with the Imps (dunno if this one will EVER achieve consensus but we'll see), (3) etc. and so forth.

last, will the final spreadsheet be "authoritative" by an electronic "show of hands" OR is "authoritativeness" NOT an objective to strive for? maybe "guidance" is the best outcome for the effort?

in the end, I hope this forum can "get it done" or "improve upon" previous efforts at this analysis -- we are probably the only ones who care enough and are skilled enough to do so for our beloved C's :)

if you folks don't do this it will never get done because all that knowlage is locked up in members minds here and they aint getting any younger...sorting out whats right and what wrong can be sorted out like gentlemen
there realy isn't anywhere else with the wealth of knowlage you'll find here...if there was we'd be over there...that's why lm here...go stan go
...besides that'll keep him outa trouble for awhile...lol

I am not the one that could figure it out, but I think it would be interesting if there were a place on here whereally members could register their cars, maybe even ny the VIN. Would make a permanent searchable data base. Seems like from time to time a car shows up for sale and some wonder if that belonged to a member at one time
