New to forum, and pondering a trade for a '66 300

Welcome. Easy choice for the 300 but the truck is cool too.

It's a tough choice for sure. If my truck was a half ton, it's be worth a lot more. Most people want the half tons so they can trick them out. Realistically it's around 5-6k in value. It's not perfect, has some rust in the front fenders, and it could use a new paint job. I did redo the interior though. I think in the future it may need a new clutch, and the bed wood is starting to give up on it.

The 300 has the buckets and the leather is in ok shape up front, but needs attention in the back. The STP sticker I was told is covering a blemish, and one of the back windows won't roll down. He did just have the motor gone through, no leaks at all now.

If I had bought the truck from someone, I would have no hesitation, but it's a shame how little I drive it. I'd drive the 300 more for cruising, more fun than driving a dump truck style transmission.

I would find a way to have both.......I had a 1968 CST Chevy Truck. Of course it was in worse shape than my NYB and even the block had easy rod access when I bought it. Sunk a lot of money in it, made it real fast, and sold it a year later.

Welcome, very nice truck and nice car your looking at.

I'm more of a truck guy personally. Why don't you find a tighter transmission if you don't like the gravel truck type? It's probably just wear and tear from just being a pick up used for work. Doing this may make you like to drive it more.

It sounds like the 300 has more work to do to it then your pick up and the parts are easiser to come by for the truck, but ultimately it's your choice right.

Good luck

is it bad I've already named the 300, joined a forum, and started looking up ways to put a quadrajet on it?

No, it just proves that the 300 is what you really want to be driving and I don't blame you one bit!

The 300 is begging to be driven while the truck is begging to be dropped onto a modern frame with bags & brakes, etc. TONS of Chevy trucks on modern frames at Good Guys this year.

I don't mind the wide whites on this car for the time being but when it came time to replace them I would go with standard white walls or red lines.

Time for the RWL argument on a C again :)

Maybe some of the 50% now finally came to their senses.

See, Dave figured it out, why can't other people?

To the OP though, I love the wide whites on a slab.
