I'm a bit late in reporting the news, but the new fuel injector fixed the problem.
The first week of testing wasn't conclusive, since my first load ended up being less than 5K pounds, and the second load was only 15K and went to central Jersey, so no hills on that trip.
Following week was 23K to Buffalo, which went well, so then I booked a true test load. Was supposed to be 35K, but turned out to be 42K. A load of copper coils from Buffalo to North Carolina through the mountains of West Virginia on I-77 and route 19. After that, I can say with certainty that the problem is gone.
The rough idle has been a bit of an annoyance, but liveable. Even though I've been down south twice, it's been cool enough that I haven't had to idle all night, so the rocky idle hasn't been a big deal.
Since my heavy test load, I've gone back to my easy light stuff, so I can cruise along instead of having to really "drive" the truck.

Continuing on my light load theme, I'm picking up styrofoam cups tomorrow, headed for Iowa.
Some shots from the last trip out:
Picked up some empty 275 gallon chemical totes at the Genesee brewing plant in Rochester.
Totes were delivered to an old factory in Cleveland.
Had some time to kill in Florida and spent much of Sunday at the Garlits museum in Ocala.
My favorite parking spot at the Circle K, just north of Spartanburg SC.
Little Honda generator keeps fridge running when truck is off. I wish I had put an hour meter on it, as I'd love to know how many hours of run time it's racked up. It's a lot.
Modern day Americana: A truck stop and a Waffle House. Check out that diesel price!
Went for a walk in the nice neighborhood behind the truck stop.

Free energy. Why even use a truck, put some wheels on the pallet and tape a couple of 9volt batteries to the stretch wrap and it will go up the hill by itself.

The truth is, when I walk into my garage, I no longer get a knot in my stomach when greeted by 5,000 lbs. of something requiring more time, aggevation, and money in a never ending story. 55 years was enough.
