OK you truckers...

A needle nose Kenworth. I have never seen a bull nose cabover (the Kw) in person. There was a cool old H67 Mack near the river by me. The river flooded and that thing went under almost completely. It got scrapped a few years later. If I just had a swimming pool of WD40...
There is a flatbed driver that runs around here and a little east that has a needle nose KW withe a Mercury sleeper on it. Cab and hood are flat hot rod black, sleeper is of course stainless.

never heard a semi truck sound like that one in the pull video above. guess that was a diesel at full throttle? something else? was it doin' good, or just makin' a lot of noise?

anybody who knows can you chime in? thanks.

Sounds like a Detroit to me. That's what your Scenicruiser should sound like. Here's another sound clip

interesting sound. .. seems like its working hard though..or is that just my neophyte diesel ears playing tricks on me?

the "consensus" on Scenicruiser powertrain seems to lean toward annything BUT an 8V71. rather a "modern" (21st century vintage) two or four stroke diesel.

I did not know such a thing existed for semis...but why not. I gotta find one near me next yr and try to check it out first hand.

I will admit to the world.. i frickin' love "tractor" pulls...much to the "disappointment" of some of my elitist "academic" friends.

some fellas working on old "853" (apparently the hobbyist have the Scenicruisers 1,001 numbered and accounted for).

this bus was repowered in the 60's with the DD 8V71 and hadn't been started in a couple of years. success at 2:08 in the video .. the rest after 3:18 is axle/tire changing etc.

So then I take it you're not familiar with the tractor street races?

hmmm... not sure what to make to this one. might be a polarizing treatment (love it, hate it, no middle)?

Or, maybe this is an overseas design common in some other part of the world (like the Japenese dekotoras) - Australia, SAmerica, etc.?

Single stack so I'm going to assume a 671 Detroit set on kill. Sounded like it was turning about 3500 RPM, definitely WFO and doing a fine job.

A view from the top of the hill. I see this event is sponsored by Coors.
