I would be surprised if thats an RPM. Performer maybe. Looks much too short.
Question about hood scoops, anybody put them on a C-Body and look good ??

i have a 71 newport, i put a repo scoop from a 67 cornet on it. i think it adds alot to and otherwise big flat hood. the place that manuf them is in calf. i can get the name if you like
Here's my issue, and if I could keep the dual snorkel I would. I like that look a lot better. This a Performer RPM and Edelbrock Carb. I did find a drop base but I'm not sure if it's enough, the hood should be going back on today so I'll have a better idea. I'm also hoping I can get a 2" filter to help with the drop. There is still a lot of clean up work on this, but it's coming along.

For me if it was a choice between the RPM performer or the dual snorkle I'd go with a different aluminum intake
the old Edelbrock CH4B is pretty much stock height and a good intake and are still out there.

Cut your braces in your hood in a circle and then reweld in metal.
Just wondering, what did it cost to get this done. How did you pick a shop to do this kind of work. I have always liked this style hood, and would not mind doing it.

the scoop i put on my car is a repo from a 66 cornet. the compant is out of california. i can get the name if you want it

You have two things working against you, the rpm is tall, thats a reason it works, the second and worse is that damn flat base on the mopar performance air cleaner, my brother in laws Challenger has the lid within a inch of the r/t hood pushing quite hard on the generic insulation pad. He modified the base to drop it, it is less diameter than the common 14 inches so if you want to find a drop from a cheapie chrome 14 inch it will be bigger dia we tried this with some old morosos I have laying around thus ended up modifying the base that came with it. All that being said a 67 super stock scoop is always a good look on a big squarish type car, go for it.
Good idea, but it does not work with Edelbrock yet. They are working on making one that will, but nothing yet.

I have been thinking about it over night and i don't really want to put a scoop on the car, so my only real choice is a different intake that sits lower then the Edelbrock RPM. I was looking at the MP Duel Plane intake (P5153525), any comments good or bad about it. I would think it would be a copy of the stock intake just lighter. Does anybody have any specs on it for it's height ?

I think you're right. I went to their site and looked at these (Edelbrock) manifolds and the one in the photo appears to be a Performer, even though in the magazine article they call it a Performer RPM. The manifold in the photo has EGR provisions. The RPM manifold doesn't have EGR.
I don't have a CH4B but they're easy enough to find on FBBO, CL, or ebay along with a lot of other intakes. No need to pay more than maybe $150-175 for an aluminum 4 BBL intake.
Another good intake is the the Edelbrock Torker II might be low enough to allow you to use the dual snorkel and its a very good intake. I have a Torker and Torker II in the garage if you want me to measure them.

Hood scope(s) are functional items, for occasions where additional/extra cooling capacity is required.
