Scenicruisin'..?

Did you really think you could restore a vintage bus to your expectations?
Jump on the Prevost.

I wanted a fixer upper adorable cottage in Thomas Kinkadeland.
I ended up in a Florida golf course slab.

What was I thinking? Fixer upper??

Coaches are so subjective. I think it's a nice coach, but definitely not something I would pursue. I much prefer a free standing dinette, and of course, less bunks. That couch is also not a plus for me. I find that the kitchen counter is way too small for my liking, as well. But then, as I said, it's all a matter of taste. It would be a nice riding coach though.

yeah boss ... i did (do) believe i could get a PD model, Eagle, or Sultana that i could fix up. Its proving harder to do yhan i thought.

good, newer, used coaches abound .. but dont hold a candle to that vintage 50's to 80's monocoque silversided iron.

thx man

Pretty sure that's a former entertainer's coach. A lot of miles for a personal RV. Those average 5000-6000 miles a year.

With a name like Faith maybe Faith Hill's coach, 4 bunks for the kids?

I would want to see proof of regular maintenance preferably at a Prevost/Detroit Diesel Allison shop with 600k on the clock. They can easily go 1,000,000 miles between overhauls with proper maintenance but that's an average and you know how those work.

IDK if I'm of much use here... That's a nice coach, I think the thing needs a serious evaluation if she's to be a possibility... the interior is really clean in the pictures, but the pictures and narrated slide show are not the same as a thorough walk through, she's old and has a lot of miles to still look that good.

I am seeing this one as old and well used, at least as far as driving goes. I think it would be very difficult to find a good shop to service a PD4501 on the road, even with modern running gear. This one is getting old enough, I wonder how long before she's seen as antique service by the repair folks?

This one would make great "training wheels" to try some vacation adventures before making the full commitment of a Scenic restomocustom... and I like the floor plan's flexibility, the taller interior and better basement space this one has.

I see a difference between having the ability to sell out of something without taking a major loss and flipping.

I hope I helped...

Beautiful, but if you were hoping for something old as a project you may be disappointed with this one in six months. It seems to me you have an itch that settling on this won't scratch.

The old one will never have the comfort and reliability of this one however.

My philosophy, don' t settle, follow your heart and fulfill your dream.

This is an awesome in-the-works fun RESTORATION PROJECT!
Please read and understand the full add, before asking any questions!

I cannot take payments.
I do not want a trade.
You can't just jump in and drive it to California.
It's not finished. There are still things that need to be done.
I do not know what is wrong with it. It could be anything from a carburetor to a new engine, etc...
It is starting but sometimes it is stalling out.

If the add is up, I still have it.

• Propane Gas for cooking, heating and hot water works great.
• All copper pipe and electrical wiring throughout.
• Large water storage tank under bench, which did have a slow leak at the valve last time I checked it.
• One spare tire slightly used on back.
• Refrigerator is propane and electric. I reinsulated the door but it still needs an electrical part to run on 30amp. I don't know if it will run on propane. I never tried it.
• I installed 1/2" rigid foam insulation in many of the walls. It is very warm in the winter and very cool in the summer. The A/C kicks, almost too cold for me and it has a great propane heater as well.
• Resealed the roof but it could use another coat. This is something that needs to be done every season, unless you store it under cover.
• Copper pipe shower rod over recycled wine barrel tub.
• Wood book shelf and TV mount.
• Floor plan drawing with dimensions included as well as window sizes for curtains, etc.

All rigs I could love... $$ and PITA likely are related.

hey cantflip thx. all cool rivs.

that Newell doesnt have any headlights tho :) its a curiosity seriously .. a lotta bling but relatively "affordable" hints of firesale?

the bluebird is slick ...a bit of interior updating for my tastes needed. i never condidered this brand. anybody know anything about them?

the '73 Dodge is "oldskool kool" but no room for my "posse"

The Newell brand has a VG reputation... age/price would have some common theme, plus I thought the interior treatments were a tad ugly... I gave her best view IMO. 7 figure coaches are going to have terrible depreciation...

Any old coach would require an in depth inspection of all systems... I wouldn't be surprised if she had needs the seller won't disclose.

Wanderlodge... the brand name BB used for RV's was a high end coach for it's day. The older ones did share lots of structure with their skoolies... but a 10 wheeled, rear engined , big brute like this was pretty much a custom job from the word "go". IIRC this one is the last of the galvanized steel models, and not I'm looking it up, but they were built with top of the line systems and priced accordingly. Age and obsolescence are the biggest negatives IMO. BB went under and was restructured 10 years ago... I wouldn't expect much factory support, but they do have a dedicated, if aging, following.

A plus for both rigs, IMO, is no Cat engine... from what I gather they cost too much $$ to keep... but IDK if an obsolete DD will really be any better.

The Dodge class "C" happened to show up at a fair price, in fair condition... I figured why not round out the selection $$ wise. I'm low budget, so the Dodge has some appeal.

I did want to emulate some of the Wanderlodge features when I was serious about mine... but I had a big hangup about the ceiling height... in retrospect, I'd have been better off with an actual Wanderlodge... but the build is supposed to be half the fun.:realcrazy:

TMC? It looks like an MCI MC8 to me.

TMC is subsidiary of Greyhound that builds almost all of the buses required by its parent's U.S. operations, roughly 350 per year. The buses are identical to the current MCI model except for nameplates.
