Scenicruisin'..?

yeah, but of of the top 3 its the least unattractive ... in general thats why I like the old MCI's, GMC;s, Crowns, Brill's, Flxies. Character counts than modernity with me

Whoa Stan .. seven years into this thread, and we still manage to piss ya off bro.. :poke:.

Actually, aside from the price I'd do three .. one ("face for radio") and two (the price don't even include the car) kinda make me View attachment 531039

Top 3-2-1 of the ten most expensive coaches (source: Top 10 Most Expensive Luxury Buses in the World

Of these 10, I like 5 the best. Almost bought an old Prevost)its back there about 1,000 posts) a few years back. Glad I didnt, but I still like them

I'm guessing the price for #5 is missing a 0 or some other number, it's a steal for $100k!

sharp eye man ... the good used ones are a steal to me while a new Prevost of any model is way outside my price range....

But ... this one is a 1997 model (looks similar to #5 ) and 20 year old Prevosts are out there. This one below recently for $140K (source: https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/1997-Prevost-COUNTRY-COACH-45-XLV-5019706682)

here is a 2006 Country Coach at $420K Fair to assume these equivalent models, if new, approached seven figures.

Prevosts and Newells .. folks know what they are getting. "mansions" you can drive around.

Even IF I had the lettuce to get one "new" .. all the shiny stuff inside is NOT my style. Need my darn sunglasses INSIDE the coach with all that stuff.

Where they (these modern coaches) excel though is electronics/communications, sanitation, and mechanical (powertrains/steering, etc) vs the old (pre 1980 coaches) stuff obviously .. New buses have technologies not even invented when the old stuff was built.

15-20 year old PRevosts with couple hundred thusand miles are good buses .. and very affordable vs. what they cost new.

Pretty normal for that vintage. The depreciation curve on those from new is pretty steep.

I don't know why anyone would cough up $300K+ for a sticks and staples Winnibago when they could have that for a third.

Peter ... shhh. Don't tell him, but I think another angle caught Stan givin' that guy the business about that $1M bus....

I'd own #8 all day long! The only remotely practical rig of the whole bunch. Number 1 has to be the ugliest motorcoach ever conceived.

I'd prefer that classic Dodge Travco rig!!!

thanks boss. recall this thread started with this bus in post #1.

To my reckoning (these numbesr keep changing everytime I read something- not sure anybody really knows), this is one of the estimated 60 of the estimated 120 running 4501's that gets around the country.

The 120 is and estimate of the 200 total still left. The 200 left, out of the 1001 built, has been a pretty reliable number though (200-250 for 10 years) -- the esthusiasts/book writers keep track of (like our hobby kinda knows where most the 475 1970 Hurst 300's are).

My bus (which was MIA for 25 year til it showed up on ebay in 2019 -- probably a few others in barns out there that nobody knows about) is now in the 200, but though its "running" now, it aint on the road yet like the 120 bunch.

I am getting there though .. solved the overheating btw .. i think -- but that's NOT "Rocky Mountain tested draggin' a C body in summer" yet.

Anyway. this black 4501 seems to be a good, reliable coach that I am sure is still participating/getting around the country. We have some posts here of its interior fitment (as of five years ago .. it may be different now). Traditional RV style like most of them.

I am trying for a different look inside .. fewer "fixed" walls, keeping MORE of the side windows intact and unblocked by interior fitments, NO fixed queen/king bed hoggin up floorspace, NO flame-operated stove, MORE digital capability/space, NO raised ceiling, NO floor leveling, etc.)

Heck, maybe diesel will be under US$7/gallon when i retire when I hit the road tuuring America in a few years.

I love Airstreams for the fact they haven't got all that swoopy **** on them! Old Avions and Holiday Ramblers are good, too. Ideally, I'd like to find an FMC coach, an old Cortez unit, or a '70s GMC.

A friend has a nice BlueBird RV for sale for $12,500, but it needs quite a bit to be able to use and drive. It has a CAT 3104 with a bad turbo. The tires would need to be replaced. And the interior needs a complete going-through, just from lack of use for about 12 years. I'd say about $30K would probably make it a nice rig. It, too, is swoop-free!

this one was my pop's its a 73 starcraft on a p400 chassi with a ind 413 loadflite , new tires awaits it at the tire shop we've switched it over from 17'' spilt rims to 19.5's awhile back . just need to get some brakes on it . it was converted to run on lp , holds about 120 gals of fuel . i through of swapping it out for a turbo'd cummins b ut this 413 runs great . and its paid for , those purchase price can buy a lot of fuel .
