my shelf design. 2x4 jack, deck screwed to wall stud. gusset screwed to jack. 2x12 shelf screwed down to both. hold the weight of the world.
all built with scrap. like everything else i have. now get that lift put in!!

Hey Ross, that white thing in the middle of the pics, it that a Dehumidifier, as I see a hose going to what looks like a drain??
Yeah - I've always run a dehumidifier in my shops just as a matter of course precaution - nothing rusts there! It's actually not bad there anyhow, but I have ALWAYS done this wherever my shops are, so it's a habit. Runs at night when the hydro is cheap.

I noticed the dehumidifier and wondered about that, we don't get a ton of humidity up North where I live so not that big of an issue.

I always put one shelf 15in from ceiling for crates.
When I redid back roof I extended the overhang to cover stuff and added boxes for recycling bins that became dirt cheap when we switch local pickup

It's small, but gives me heated place to work year round, seeing as my garage is not heated. The little shop is very well insulated and is cozy to -40. 
That old lamp above the door says "Patented 1936" on it. I thought that was cool.
I built it mainly out of used material. The side window and the ceiling tile are from an old mobile home I renovated one summer. The doors are from a used building supply store. A lot of the lumber is from an old garage that I tore down. The ceiling tile had water stains when I put them up, but hey, they were free and free is good.
I put little swivel wheels on this old truck toolbox after flipping it on end and it became my tool cabinet. It now has horizontal shelves in it.

I'll be building a french cleat wall for behind the bench and can make a bunch of holders like those. Great idea..Thanks!!
