Stormer's 67 Polara Build

< Sighhhhhhhhh............... >
Ross, send me plane ticket up there so I can kick some ***.

I would find another shop immediately and move all your stuff ASAP!

They don't & never will again have any of my stuff. I just need some ******* parts.

PM me your full name & DOB. When can you leave? First class ok or were you thinking charter?

No cot but I have some Hemi folding chairs. Stan's old enough that he can prolly fall asleep in a folding chair.

Hope you can get the necessary parts to keep your project rolling.

I finally got time to get after one of my projects with clear light at the end of the tunnel after finishing my port work on the heads and manifolds, however when I put the short block together I found out that the machine shop ruined my block by decking it too far... way too far, and tapered even deeper to the rear... Yay ... :BangHead:

You can see the piston is above the deck when they belong .018" down @ TDC....
Nice... Better luck next year I guess... :gah:

I sure hope they compensated you for their disastrous mistake!

They obviously never quite grasped the term "zero decking".
It would have been salvagable without the taper.
They owe you something towards a new block.

Wow, that's terrible. Where you been?

That machine shop should of been too embarrassed to give that block back to you!

I appreciate that I was missed. I have been busy aside with being frustrated with life in general and I just kind of fell out of the loop. I don't really have a legit excuse. I have missed the correspondance with the clan here and need to keep in touch more often.

You can't go through too many posts here without getting a good chuckle. I think it could alleviate some pent up stress to set aside some time catching up with the regulars again.

It is really frustrating as he is not a bad guy and he is a good friend of one of my co-workers, and he didn't know that he screwed up until I put the short block together. He showed up at 11:30 at night on a weekday and offered to get me a new block and redo the machine work, but after asking several questions I don't think he has the proper equipment or training to properly deck a block. My co-worker was very worried about me being pissed off, but truly I wasn't angry, just sick. The engine is for my boat and it will not see the water again this year and I have about 6K in the engine as it is, plus now the added expence of having to replace the roller cam block ('89-'91 only) cleaning, boring and decking it, along with new cam bearings, frost plugs etc.... Not to mention any machine shop with a solid reputation for doing precision work is at least 3 months behind... :sad11:

Ross, I have used up a good share of shitty luck this summer, so I'll forward all of my unused good luck to you and your project.

Great to see you back and posting Has2B, your name has come up a couple times in your absence. Hope all is well now but man does that engine fubar suck!

Sorry to hear your frustration with your build. My upholstery guy is definitely causing me some too. He basically hasn't done anything to my 300 yet (nearly 4 weeks). If I see another new car in his shop, being worked on, before I see mine finished I might loose it completely.

Matt took the woods right out of my mouth. Glad to see you posting again, sorry it had to be something bad to share, once again this year. I had a bad year once, totally different circumstances than yours, but I just thought how could this year get any worse and then something else would happen.

Nothing better to get you feeling great than reading and catching up on FCBO.

Greatest therapy on the planet!!!

I'm glad you're back!!!!!!!!!

Like a glove.....

Can you believe that Miloden actually makes a middle sump oil pan just so you can jam a modern Hemi in a C body? Well, they do.....
