The Bluesmobile

Almost like you were "On a mission from God"...excellent work Zac...btw nice Cherokee on the driveway..:)

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it! Feels great to have her on the road again!

I've driven her to work the past couple days. She's been doing good. Don't notice the whine getting any worse. Still has a little vibration in the driveline. I'll get the rear end dealt with after carlisle. As long as it holds together lol.

I did tighten the steering gear up a little tonight. See if that helps tomorrow. Hard to describe, but when turning left, the steering is pretty responsive, turning right is a bit lazy though... more so at higher speeds. Is it normal for a steering gear to have more play on one side? It's a "new" refurbished gear.

Also that 2nd power steering pump makes some noise at higher rpms. Is it really that hard to get a good power steering pump these days!?!?! This is the 2nd one on the car, and the D300 is having the same issues with its new power steering pump. Wtf!

No big oil leeks, or coolant leaks. Still no over heating. She gets a little heat soak though. Can smell a little gas after a jaunt, and shutting her down.

Under the hood is so hot though.... Idk.

Look forward to seeing Driver, Co-driver and Car in ah few weekz FINALLY, lol

Same here Jer! It's gonna be a blast!!

That's Sabrina's Dad's (Jon). Not my cup o tea, but it's an alright little ride. Kinda surprises you when you hit the go pedal, But more so when you hit the stop pedal! Damn! Thing will give you whiplash! He's been lucky, and had no problems with that 8spd, that seem to plague these models.

A year or 2 back he asked if I'd change the oil for him. The dealer turned him down for 6months straight saying "they were too busy". Thing was still under warranty, and they couldn't squeeze in a 10min oil change. Unbelievable.

It took me almost 45mins to find the damn oil cartridge (which was new to me). Thank god for YouTube lmao.

Did a few more adjustments. Ended up bypassing the ballast resistor, for the new dizzy. Thought I was gonna need a more powerful alternator. Luckily that was not the case. The dizzy just wasn't getting the full 12v it needed to run. Once accessories were turned on, she would die.

Shout out to combat Bob for the idea of sealing the rear marker lights. I opened the trunk tonight, and found a couple ponds forming in the wells behind the tires. We've been getting a lot of rain lately! I never noticed it before, but the trunk wasn't exactly sealed off before either lol.

I put a healthy coat of rtv on the marker light openings.

My plates finally came in today. They look great! I bent up some 1/8" from work for a new front plate holder. Can't wait to get em on!

Also backed the timing down a bit. She was pining pretty good under full throttle. She seemed to like it a lot too. Can really feel her lunge now from a stop if you get on it. If only the PS pump would quite whining now lol

Been going around the car wet sanding, and buffing spots here, and there. Also been taking a scotch bright pad here , and there. Weathering paint, and making it look natural isn't all that easy. Hopefully it'll look better once I get some dirt on her.

Got the new plate, and bracket on! Also can step back in time, and be movie correct with the new wire hanger antenna. This was actually needed as well. The original antenna stud broke years ago. Idk how the antenna never flew away...

Drilled a new hole in the stud still in the base. Cut a screw in half, and welded the hanger onto it. It's actually attached.

Phone numbers going on the quarter tomorrow.

Digg'en that Rebel flag in the garage Zac..

:confederateflag:

Great job! But, will it collapse into a pile of parts when you get to the Cook County Tax Asseors office?

God I hope not! If so, I'll just have to stay away from there lol.

This "weathering" is kicking my *** though.. not as happy with the outcome so far.

Gosh, I just looked back at the first page and none of the old pics load anymore :(

I'm originally from Alabama but live in New York now, if I flew the flag on the back of my New Yorker that would go over like a fart in church up here. Lol

Photobucket is doing that. They want to charge $400 annually to be able to cross link pics.
Holy Crap! My restoration thread will be f'd up to page 6! And with no way of re-editing the posts to upload pics!
:mob:

Sorry Zac, didn't mean to change the topic! Can't wait to see her at Carlisle, I want a selfie with Jake and Elwood!!

Oh yes, everyone offended by anything.

Did you see the news from a couple weeks back over a general lee at a car show in Canada? Un freaking believable! I was more pissed at the event holder, and even the mayor. Saying the car was not invited, and shouldn't have been there. It's a car show *** hole, get over yourself.

Even better the supposed victim is swearing, and yelling in front of her "innocent" children in front of everyone.

All good! Photobucket has been going down hill for the last few years. I quit using it 2years or so ago. I think they realize this, and are trying to scam some money out of the people left using it. Think it will backfire though, as nobody says they will pay.

I know I won't!!

I'll throw the spare hat and shades in the car if I can find em! lol

Phone numbers are on. Also some more weathering with the scotch bright pad.

Did some math. Seems I'm getting roughly 9.5-10 mpg'. Carlisle is gonna be pricey! lol I've only been running the good stuff through her (93).

Got a few more things to do tomorrow. Noticed I'm seeping a little trans fluid out of the cooler lines at the radiator. Some tefflon tape should cure it. Some paint has washed away right under the engine on the stub. Must not have got all the oil off. Gonna sand and get some more on. Also gotta mess with the wiper bushings, and an oil change.

Luckily I put my hours in at work last weekend. Gave me the week to do all these things before the trip next week.
