The Bluesmobile

Thanks guys! Think we'll be good! Or atleast I hope lol. Luckily Sabrina is a AAA member, so we should be covered if something happens. Atleast every 100 miles.... ha!

Hopefully my work will stand the test. First time digging this deep into a resto. Although, I have learned not to trust new parts quite a bit lately, so we shall see.

And I'll still with my jim beam, thank you.

I just realized. . . You are driving to Carlisle from Florida? WOW! I thought the Florida contingent was gonna go by AutoTrain. Well, just try to keep it under a hundred. . .

Oh yes! That's the fun for me. Nothing like getting out on the open road in a C. She's a pleasure on the highway.

She's got a long haul ahead of her for sure... 12 hours to Carlisle, and wherever we go while there. Then 8 hours to MI to visit family, whatever mileage we put on her there for the week, then an 18 hour ride home back to FL that next Friday/Saturday.

Think this will be a good break in trip for her lol.

She's gotta go in for an alignment again, this weekend. Before the drivers side upper control arm was moving around. Now it seems the passenger side is moving. Guessing it's all the fresh paint on the frame, letting things slide around...

Or that driveline shop was out dukes of hazzarding her around. Who knows...

Godspeed to my favorite Blumo and her contents!

That will get the fluids moving.

She's just about a bluesmobile again. Took her up to the shop for an alignment again, and spent the rest of the weekend getting the decals painted on.

Doesn't look like much, but damn is this stuff time consuming lol. There used to be a fellow blumo fan, who took a ton of time, and made up a correct decal set. Unfortunately he seemed to disappear a few years ago. Luckily I had the "plans" of the decals, but not the actual pieces. All the lettering is straight out of the computer printer lol.

The deck lid lettering has a brown base coat, with white on top. The white is seen withering away, and exposing the brown in the movie. This wasn't easy, and still needs a little more work.

Next up were the fenders. I used the plans from the decal kit, and a movie screenshot for the drivers side. Not spot on, but pretty good imo.

Rear doors next. I'm most proud of these. I can never get these right. The color is hard to copy. However this time I think I got it. These are as movie correct as I've ever seen. It took 3 colors. A base of red primer, a mist of satin copper metallic, a mist of black, and another mist of copper.

While the paint was still tacky, I rubber some nu finish in to dull the paint some, and expose the underlying colors a bit. Pretty happy how these came out. Much better then before.

Last but not least are the stars. I've always been happy with the way these came out. I trace out a set of authentic decals I have, and transfer it to some brown paper. Then spray black paint on the back side, and slap em on the door. Leaves a pretty realistic look.

Also added the primer spot on the driver side fender. All that's left is the phone numbers on the rear quarters.

I've also got these on the way. I reached out to a fellow blues brothers fan, who happens to be a pretty good prop maker. He's been making me a set of movie correct license plates.

They should be getting mailed out tomorrow. Can't wait to get em on! Will be much better then the cheap eBay plate that's on it now. Just plain flat stock, with vynal decals.

These are stamped plates, with painted affects, and beat up.

I wouldn't build my own, but your thread almost makes me want to... fabulous attention to detail.
