The Bluesmobile

:crybaby2::Groaner: :eusa_boohoo: :censored: :BangHead: God damnit..... How does the wiper motor come out? Its probably gonna be a quick spray bomb job for ease of access (as much as I hate to say/do). I am NOT tearing the car back apart.

I know what you mean dave, I was just joking with ya. Thank you though, and thanks for the kick in the *** guy's!... Guess I need it.. I just want my damn car back on the road. I guess I have another project for tomarrow, instead of painting the outside...

Never messed with the wiper motor before.. I don't know what to expect with it, and am kinda intimidated by it. Can I put the wipers in the "up" position and still take it out?

Remove the cowl cover and it's a piece of cake.

MMMMM... Cake :birthday_cake:

EDIT... (After removing the cowl screen, as Stan satated above)...

You should be able to leave the short radius arm on the motor and pry the long arm with the nylon insert off of the ball.... Not?

You try taking that off something is gonna break, sure as hell. Stan has it right, you gotta go through the cowl cover

Alright... Ive got all the elctronics, and wiring away from the firewall. Got the cowl covers off. Need to do some vacuming before any painting! lol Ofcoarse I did have one thing break. The little double plastic nipple for the washer fluid hose that goes to the wipers. No big deal, can probably still use it.

I've heard a lot of nightmare stories about the wipers/wiper motors on these cars (both on here, and on the blumo forum). The wipers still work great, and really dont want to mess it up, but dont think I will be able to get good paint coverage with it on there.

I gotta get a flashlight, and peek down in the cowl.

Also the manuals I have dont really give me much detail.. What am I looking for behind the cowl? Sorry guys.

One more thing, is there any way to get the hood to cowl gasket clips out somewhat easliy? I can see the tops lol

lol its all good dave! I appreciate the help!

Looking into the cowl, i only see the one arm attached to the motor. The shop manuals I have say to unbolt the motor, then pull it out enough to see the crank arm mounting nut. Then hold motor crank, and unbolt the nut. Guess I'll give this a try. Dont really see a clip or anything on the back side.

Take it apart at the crank arm to motor, don't F with the bushings..... Ask Bob.

Alright... I got antsy. I unbolted the wiper motor, and pulled it out just enough to give me space to spray the paint. Left it where it was, did not want to break anything. Pulled some stuff, sanded everything down, and shot the paint. Hopefully it will be somewhat dry tomarrow. I feel a bit like stans car flipping buddy.. but ehh, it does look a lot better. Day light will tell though. Think I got all the nooks and crannys.

Left the hood padding on, as I think it would have just disintegrated if i looked at it wrong, but it did seem to just soak the little bit of paint up that got on it, and cannot tell.

Idk why, but there looks like a lot more rust in the pics then there really is. Maybe the shadowing?

Back together. Does look a lot better, still something I should have done when it was apart...

Needs a good cleaning after the sanding, and being worked on the last week or so. Gonna let the paint dry before attempting that.

That looks better. Good job!

Now I'd have the request to put it all back to original color. LOL
