Things Millenials find funny...

I find it hilarious how much you guys crap on one generation so heavily....

Here's my standpoint as a part of that generation...

Learning starts at home, we learn all behaviours and traits at home.

Therefore factually we all are a product of our environment. The fact that any one generation is any worse then the other comes back to the generation prior to it.

After all, where did the millennials learn from?

It was the Generation X and the Boomers that created this, Unfortunetly all of this is a direct descendentcy of this.

Is that where all the blame belongs? No, pop culture and the education system have simply filled in the gaps.

At the end of the day I'm a Millennial and I will gladly take any reasonable challenge provided by your generation.

IE the previous comments of "put any wrench in their hand" and the like....

I agree to a point with you Nick. My 27 year old Son-in-Law is a level 3 Chrysler Tech and can run circles around me on the new stuff but his education really started when I put him in charge of figuring out the ignition upgrade from points to electronic on my 70. He had to diagnose the issues with his head not his Witech. In the end he figured it out using basic fundamentals. The desire to learn through trial and error is what seperates people like you and him from the narcissistic neophytes Waiting to be handed everything on a silver platter. He appreciates my experience as much as I appreciate his. Very few young people I meet are up to the challenge of doing what must be done without global assistance. Learn by doing...or watch youtube I guess

As a boomer I could never hold a candle to my Dad wrt any kind of physical/hands on work. His generation learned what they had to just to survive. I learned from my Dad through osmosis and interest and not because I had to. As a result I've been "handy" most of my life although most of my mechanical knowledge was self taught and came much later in life. My kids who are your generation are generally useless with any kind of practical work. Part of that might be my fault but the whole system is focused on kids being book smart and getting a post secondary education at the expense of practical knowledge. Having spent the later part of my career in recruiting for a large company I know that good young trades people are like hens teeth. Sometimes we are not as considerate here as we might be but like it or not you are the exception that proves the rule when it comes to the Millennial generation.

I also had a friend come over once and saw our phone in the kitchen and thought it was some huge novelty. He called his mom and said "I would have died before I got to dial 911." I thought that was funny.

I experienced 2 exceptions when it comes to millenials....

The young guys in the military are as tough as my generation.

And..

The nurses that I encountered while I was in the hospital 3 times last year.

Both of these groups of young people are consumate professionals that I would trust my life with.....literally.

Standing and shutting the **** up while the National Anthem is being played.

1976 Firecracker 400, my Hippy-Dippy Cali war protester girlfriend wouldn't stand for the National Anthem, big bubba next to her looks over to me and ask's what's wrong with her... (long haired me... think fast) "She's Canadian" was the correct answer!

I think that it be made mandatory that every male, before they reach the age of consent, grab a coil wire while the engine is running.
That's how you learn Science.

Hey Hey, early 1970's I had developed the "Condenser Tester" skillset by my second job and got a Raytheon Rocket Scientist with it when he wanted to be a cheap bastard and not allow me to replace both the points & condenser in his Homelite chainsaw one Saturday morning when we got the majority of our 'ahem' retail customers.

Careful with what you wish as when the CDI ignitions became standard on Snow Mobiles we had service bulletins warning that the spark energy can kill you.

Times change and people must adapt with the changes. Interpersonal communication has evolved from smoke signals, drums, pony express, morse code, telegraph, crank for operator phones, rotary dial, push button tone dial, brick sized wireless, flip phones, smartphones and various internet apps like Skype. People are faced with all sorts of products and procedures which have undergone these radical changes, some hop from step to step, some get stuck, miss a few steps and become lost. In my case I got lost when smartphones became smarter than me. My kids gave me an iphone a few years ago which I use to text, I've never actually talked on it. I have taken pictures, but one of my kids must magically move them to my computer. My kids can easily blow me away with their smart phones, pads and such, but I still am the resident computer "dude".

One of the problems we are all having, if you get stuck at some level, you will tend to be critical of "those damn fools" who left you in the dust. Probably the reason why the newer generations make older generation craftsman grouchy. I understand most of what makes my Fury go, but my Hemi Jeep is another story.

My two boys are 30 and 32.

After reading through this thread, I can say they must not be the "average" millennials. They can use a dial phone and pretty much any of the stuff talked about here. It wouldn't surprise me if my youngest could identify the corn husker tools... He seems to have a lot of knowledge about stuff like that. They are both pretty capable with a wrench although I would bet they might have an issue with a carb... Of course, they would just read up on it on their phone, watch a video or two and then take care of business.

Well... My youngest does have the millennial type beard, but I think the women like it.

So what if they taste good :poke:
Simple answer, both...;)
Ambitious... but I'd have guessed that :D, it's true... that situation always blows up.

I see why you guys don't like these postings, but don't get too bothered... I'm sure that you've seen how few folks in your generation have mastered a trade. Truth is, there weren't so many in mine.

My friend just had me over figuring out an old RV that he had his stepson, a local "mobile mechanic" who advertises his services using the word "master" excessively. Having replaced every single large electronic component that could cause a "crank no start" already... it was time to diagnose and clean the corroded connection that was the root of all evil.

I think the "master" was gen Y or Z though...

Nope. Sorry. That answer never works.

Next round:

Billie Jo, Bobby Jo or Betty Jo?

That's actually six different women.

Betty Jo Bradley
Linda Kaye Henning 1963–1970

Bobbie Jo Bradley
Pat Woodell 1963–1965
Lori Saunders 1965–1970

Billie Jo Bradley
Jeannine Riley 1963–1965
Gunilla Hutton 1965–1966
Meredith MacRae 1966–1970

I'm partial to the third Billie Jo.

Exactly. Thanks for knowing it was a trick question.
