WANTED: pics of 69 chrylser 300 convertibles. Dead or Alive!

I gave you a couple pictures, so please cut me a little slack for my late unwanted input.

I got my '68 300 2drht when I was 13 followed by a '70 Road Runner, '69 Road Runner, '68 300 4drht, 68 Fury III 2drht and a '69 Sport Satellite all bought in non-running condition and I fixed whatever was needed and drove them all in school. I feel it's an imprinting thing nearly as much as the appeal of that era of Mopars.

I have owned likely over 150 Mopars of varied condition from parts to nice drivers and even a '66 Hemi Belvedere II.

My appeal always goes back to the '68 300 and the '70 Runner and I can't pick a favorite as I like different aspects of both. If everything that I liked was in one car it would be much cheaper. To me it's an incurable Mopar thing, not sibling rivalry between body designations.

Keeper list
'68 300
'57 Desoto Fireflite
'70 Road Runner
'70 GTX
'39 Plymouth pickup

I found a couple more, but again no convertibles.

Just do some photo shop work to hide the roof.:painting_pink:

Nice car..........and excellent work!! I love the options and color combo. I admire you "overseas" fellows. You just jump into a car and do what you want. I need to grow a set:yes:

Thanks! Now it is almost ready, I'll add some pics soon.

69 300 ragtop

Here's few pictures of my project car. I'll add images as soon as I get the car done.

Thats a great story and pictures. I aquired a 69 300 conv last November and am in process of cosmetic restro now. The body needed some repair... had been done once a long time ago with filler and fiberglass which has been removed and is now all solid metal. The trunk floor is being fabbed and installed now then to paint. The metal guy has been dragging his heels a little and it has taken longer then I had hoped for, but I have used that time to repair, paint, replace, rechrome and polish every piece of trim and interior on the car. I'm looking for things to do now. I'm aming for late summer and the Daytona Turkey Run in November now.

My car is also a very early build. October 8, 68. I'm curious about the build date of your car. My understanding was that the 300's built up to Jan 1 did not have head rests, which I see on your car. An option perhaps...? I know the pilot cars tend to be loaded with accessories.

My car is Crimson red with white top and interior, but I love the copper on yours.... Can you tell if it is T5......

Marten Carlsson posts thousands of car show pictures on his Facebook page, from shows he attends in Sweden. Most are pictures of 50's and 60's American cars including lots of Mopars (mostly of the "extra large" variety and many with fins). He just posted these pictures of a 69 300 convertible.

If you lived close to northern Virginia, you could stop by and search my photo albums and negatives of Mopar shows dating back to 1984. I remember buying 10 $5 rolls of 35mm film for a show such as Chryslers at Carlisle, or the Mopar Nationals, or Spring Fling. There were 36 pictures per roll and it would cost about $10 per roll for developing. Now I routinely take over 1000 pictures at a single show and seldom run out of space on my camera's SD card. I know there are 69 300 convertibles in some of those old photo albums, I have an entire dresser in my room thats full of nothing but 35mm negatives from Mopar shows. It would take forever to find and scan in photos or negatives from all those shows.
One year the giveaway car at the Mopar Nationals was a red 69 300 convertible.

Early cars....

Regular 1969 model year production began on August 1st 1968. Your car was definitely a pilot. I'm guessing you did not locate a build sheet in the car....?
My car was an early production car and I found several "strange" assy methods when I dissasembled it. (Right side assembled different then the left). I can only imagine what yours must be like. Be sure to photo document everything. Even if different then others it could be correct for yours. And keep posting the progress.... I'll have some more pictures of my restro progress soon.
