Well I went and got a 69 fury iii today

Time for a big cruise. On that note, consider your muffler choice, a big rumble might be nice but after an hour on the highway of droning away you will go nuts.

any suggestions on a muffler? How about an H pipe ? What would that do to the sound? The glass packs on the small diameter exhaust tubes aren't bad but not DEEP enough sound. I don't want loud except when goosed.

That reminds me of a story of my 1997 Lexus LS400 with a 32 valve V8 4.0. This was and is a really great car and I was sad to sell it. I removed the back mufflers and pipes leaving only the resonators. It sounded great and no real noise inside. Went to a muffler shop and had him bend some pipes to the end of the car so there was no possibility of exhaust inside the car . DRONE CITY!! I couldn't take it and put the stock stuff back on.

Glass packs without H pipe is great until the glass is blown out then it's straight pipes.

I'd go w/o the H pipe and use a turbo flow type muffler

I have heard this from a few guru's like you tallhair. One guy said H pipes on a 440 make it sound like $hIt,,,, don't know why. He also recommended 2 straight pipes with turbo mufflers

I have turbo mufflers and h pipe in my TTI system. Sounds good to me and I've never heard a complaint about TTI sound.

There are a lot of things that influence exhaust sound, but the H pipe should make it quieter with less drone.

I am not personally familiar with TTI but have heard great things about them and what you say about H pipe was my understanding too. I guess the bottom line is the beauty of the sound is in the ears of the beholder.

Well, I like mine.

The H pipe will smooth out the exhaust notes and tone them down so if that's what your after then go for it.

I thought the sound on the vid of the 300 is very appropriate for that car. I think on mine I would like it abit more aggressive the way the car looks. So I will try without an H pipe first. I love the sound of a 440.

That really sounds great. Love to see the pics of the rest of the car. If I am not happy without a H pipe I could always add it later.

That looks SUPERB!!! Very nice car and tastefully done!

I started a topic in engines called "Exhaust Exit Advice" asking for opinions. I got great advice from hidden turn down exhausts to wild 71 Fury GT chrome square 4 outlet trombones sticking way out beyond the rear bumper! I think I have found the best of both worlds with the look of 300rag's rear end exhaust. Out abit from the bumper with a turn down.

I feel honoured, but I still need to trim my length about 1 to 1 1/2 inches to get the look I want.
