What a Rush

Club soda and oxidative cleansing agent are touted. I like cheap dental tabloids. It's something that I've considered trying for quite some time. It's looking like I've found a winner. Especially for the C-body crowd.

We got a lot done yesterday but found water/rust in the front pot of the master cylinder. We had to break before we got it ready to run because school comes first. We spent today getting Dylan's truck somewhat road-ready.

Dana 60 axles from a Ford. He's using the front in his F-250. The rear might just fit in a C-body drag race car. Time will tell.

He's taking Race Chassis Welding, or something similar, this 6 week period. It's going to be a handy skill.

Maybe he can make his own roll cage.

Truck made it to Ohio in one piece. It really is awesome. If you guys are considering buying a tow rig, a 2002 3500 is one to look for. Sorry for hijacking my own thread.

Well, I'm not looking for a truck for towing but I was looking for a pickup. Got a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. I fell in love with it the first time I started it. You just gotta love the sound of a Hemi engine. :-D Glad to hear he made it safe and sound and so did the truck.

More wiring evaluation today. I’m labeling what’s been hacked and expect to get in gear tomorrow. It’s drawing near.

I found a very minor leak in the flare fitting at the line from the front reservoir of the master cylinder to the proportioning valve. I snugged it up but experience tells me that it’s likely to be a nuisance again. I cleaned the MC reservoir and added fluid for now. If/when Dylan goes to four wheel discs, this can all be changed. Choice of brakes will depend upon what happens with the rear axle, so, it will be changed as a system when these decisions are made with some thought.

Commitment to self and friends:
First fire tomorrow.

Mostly, I’m making this commitment to Dylan.

First

Fire

Tomorrow

I bought supplies and, in the process, took Tesla (“Tessa”) Stardust to the local electronic surplus and wood stores today. She fit right in. Now, she’s tired.

I made design commitments and also accomplished a bit of wiring today. Pictures at 11:00

One step forward.

Two steps back. Wiring is close enough to get an attempt at starting the beast. Hiccup:
The fuel pump stuck and blew a fuse. I temporarily hard-wired it and got it spinning. After that, it’s behaving well. New electric motors sometimes need a good swift kick-start.
Hiccup!!:
Apparently, the Crane Fireball ignition module, which ran fine from magnetic trigger, won’t make spark at all when we’re triggering it from the “points” wire. It’s potted in epoxy and not readily repairable. That’s OK. Summit racing has a new store in the DFW metroplex now. We plan to get a new MSD ignition box tomorrow. Sigh. So close.

One other thing that I’m noticing is that the oil pressure gauge didn’t bump at all when cranking. We did prime it and got oil flow before final assembly, so, I’ll be keeping a VERY CLOSE EYE on oil pressure as soon as it’s turning under its own power.
