What a Rush

Can a guy get his Rush fix over here?
The car is still getting an exhaust fabbed up. Hopefully it will be back later this week. In the mean time, there may be some work on this beast.

That's fine... we have very short attention spans here anyhow... so now, about the truck project... year, engine, plan??? I'm not sure if that would still be a flathead or a y block... but she looks like a great old farmer's truck to chase down parts in.

It’s a Y-block. Except that it’s now a 302” 10.5/1 compression, fire-breathing draggin’ Y-block with Mummert aluminum heads. It’s the first project vehicle that Dylan helped to build. It’s got a T-98 four speed, that we rebuilt in our living room, and the differential is geared 6.200/1 (really, really low). it’s a beastly truck known affectionately as “Albatross.”

My wife didn’t share the same affection for it as we did, so, I gave it away to a dear friend. He’s kindly cared for it and gave it back to me when I asked politely. Because he’s had his heart set on it for quite a while, Dylan is now the proud owner. He’s looking forward to driving it to school. I guarantee that he’s going to be the only student with one of these out in the lot.

He will be cruising in style... and in the slow lane... but I bet he'll be popular with those who want something pulled.

She’s baaaa-ack.

Oh.

The lad got to drive her today. I’ll let him expound.

Dang, that sounds sweeeeeeet!

Rich did a great job of crafting the exhaust to breath quite well and fit inside the C-body without too many radical turns. We ended up using a straight crossover (H-pipe) because trying to get an X-pipe in there would have actually caused significant restrictions.

He found a collapsed transmission mount (wonder how that happened) and we were able to get one off the shelf from Summit. If he’d have run pipe with the tail shaft pointing down, it would have been a virtual do-over. I’m glad that we took it to him.

Nice work!!
That thing sounds like a pro stock motor.
I went with an H pipe as well, I just pulled the trans last week, no interference at all.
Have one of you been able to go on an extended drive yet?

Nope. Farthest it's been is down the block. Need to make the fuel cell secure and tune it before any major expeditions take place.

Please stay off the highway with that, there is enough Prime/Swift/Wal-Mart/Schneider etc and young girls posting on Instagram clogging the highways.
I'm not getting any younger and don't need to waste my time dealing with 50 in a 70
