What is the difference between a SFGT and a S23?

John the numbers have gone up on a yearly basis. ten years ago half of what is there now, 20 years ago, probably ten - fifteen Cs
And that might be why they have chosen the C-body to showcase.

I also think they follow the trends. C-bodies are up these days.

They should do a better job with allocated space just based on the C-Body pre-register numbers.

whats the pre registered numbers? They may allocate enough room , then some. Perhaps theres a lot of guys on the fence and register as a drive in Ten cars can throw a wrench into a good layout

There's probably a formula that they apply to pre-registers v. drive ins. I know when I was involved in some local shows, pre registered cars could be counted on to make up 1/3 (or something like that) of the show field. It was actually a pretty accurate figure.

Since Carlisle is a big show, and people are coming from all over, I would assume the percentage is much higher. They've been doing this so long that it's still just doing the math.

This is why I really encourage everyone that wants to go to pre register. It gets you in the gate easier and faster if nothing else.

1970 sfgt pp23
1970 s/23 ps23

Is that the dash VIN or the tag VIN?

Here's why I asked. It seems like there is something 'different' about how these cars were VINned but I do not recall what that is. This car codes PH on the tag with an A52 option package. I can't seem to find PP as a valid designation for 1970.

Im sure there is John, it never seems to be enough. Yet, I always see empty spots in the A, B and E section

I just find an open spot and throw out the anchor if the C-Line is full.

This is from the black 71 SFGT that was sold some weeks ago.
Could be a mistake in the Chrysler book.? (Not PP but PH for the 70 GT.)

I can find the 1971 SFGT referred to as the PP VIN so my question is on the 1970 models.

So, in essence, the 1970 S/23 and SFGT were A series option code package cars like an AAR or Superbird but unlike those cars, they did carry a separate VIN code.

Hi Doug,

no, sorry, Martin (69Monaco) is wrong.
In 1970 the S23 as well as the GT were just Option package cars on the fender tag. They had VINs starting with PH like all other Sport Furys. The code PP was introduced with the 1971 model year.

It'll be very interesting to see what Fury's show up at Carlisle this year.

So PP23 was only the body style number in the book and not on the tag or VIN for 1970 or is it a misprint in the book...............?
