What is the difference between a SFGT and a S23?

So PP23 was only the body style number in the book and not on the tag or VIN for 1970 or is it a misprint in the book...............?

1970 GT = PH23 w/A52 option code.
1971 GT = PP23 VIN

What book are those numbers from? They don't jive with many of the known production numbers. PP should be 1971 and not 1970, to the best of my knowledge; which is limited!

The Orange car is the one everyone knows about. I have seen very few of thses and the ones I have seen were for the most part in not so good condition.
The orange S23 was for sale at Carlisle many many times. I seem to recall when I first saw it people mocking the eleven thousand dollar price tag. Didnt this car get close to thirty last time it sold?

^^^ Pipe dream but I wouldn't hesitate a second to pay $11,000 for it and probably wouldn't think to long on paying close to $30,000 now.

WOW ! This orange car sure brings back some memories. I bought a S23 that looked identical to this car back in 1982. A friend of mine dad owned a used car lot and took it in on trade, I bought it for $750. It was a one owner car, never been wrecked all original with 63,000 miles on it. It was a 318 column shift with black bench seat interior. I drove it for 5 years daily, best car I ever owned. It came from Maryland originally, had rust under the vinyl top around the lower rear window and the A pillars. Started leaking water through under the dash and caused a bunch of electrical gremlins. I ended up selling It for $500 to a friend and he drove it for 6 months and sold it to a junk yard. :(
Ohhhh what I would give to have that car back now !!! My old Sport Fury is the very reason I joined this forum.
Hopefully in the near future I hope to find a relatively clean 70 Sport Fury.

Welcome , any pix of that old S/23 ?
Unfortunately NO ! My ex-wife trashed all my car pic's when we split up before I had a chance to get them. I mean all my pic's, 70 RT/SE Challenger, 69 Road Runner, 70 S23 Fury, 71 Road Runner and an all original 66 Buick Riviera that I was the second owner of. :BangHead:

ya l hear ya....this site has a way of drawing ya out...suckin ya in then cleanin out yer bank account ...all good

With the rarity of the 6BBL cars I would hope they were all stuck away, but I wonder how many gave up there power plant to a cuda or challenger because the c body is often over looked.
