WhenTF did they take away the ACC position on the Ignition switch???

Sooooo. To start that one you had to use a rotary dial to call a heavy equipment recovery team..LOL!!
Call Collect! No 800 numbers back then. And you still needed a dime to get a dial tone...

Come to think about it, it's still called a dial tone.

i know how you feel. i just bought an 09 silverado. basic truck- crank windows, rubber floor mat etc. just what i was looking for. i had to read the manual to figure out the acc position. i had an 84 cougar that didn't have a key. turn the switch and go.

Even so, it would have power brakes (mandated by law now...) and steering. The whole idea that vehicles are legally mandated to have power assisted anything annoys me...

I don't think if there are any domestic built vehicles that have roll up windows anymore.

Probably not, I haven't seen any for a long time. My '99 XJ has crank windows, no power locks, and no cruise control. But it has power brakes and steering, both really unnecessary for such a light vehicle. The PS does come in handy when crawling, though. I actually converted both my '66 Polara and 69 Coronet to manual disk brakes. I like the feel, (not to mention never worrying about failing boosters) but my wife doesn't like the high brake pedal.

yeah it has power steering and brakes. don't think i'd want to drive a 4x4 without them anymore. in my defense though it has rear drums :)

I noticed this too, how are you supposed to sit in the vehicle and just listen to the radio?
