Some of you may know that I am selling my Chebbies. I have used my open pit trailer for along time to move cars to storage or body shop, etc... However, it is not equipped to handle the weight of my Imperials. It is 4800 LB max. load and I will likely trade in or sell outright. So, I'm in the market to pick up a heavy duty trailer...probably an open aluminum 10-14K GVW. Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on features or options? I am debating on a winch. Don't think the tilt bed feature best for long wheel bases...My main reason to have trailer is to get Imperial from home or storage to shop for work and back...pics below show the challenge, an option and what I have that's now too light. Thanks.

IDK if the Imperial Trailer I own is from the same outfit as the link, I bought it used for $1600... and yes I know I got a smoking deal. With the steel diamond plate deck, it's done more hauling for house than the cars. With 2 3500lbs axles, she hauled this one pretty nicely... the next upgrade would be a 3/4 ton if I was to pull bigger weight. I do agree with Nick, I know mine is at the limit with this load and my 1/2 ton.

Here's a RED one.

Oddly enough, my Imperial Trailer is BLACK.

I like this one...except I'd have to remove that front bumper stopper (pseudo headache rack?) for my Imperial nose.

I have to say that even with 10 cars in good running condition I never felt the Need to have a car Trailer of my own. In 30 years I rented Trailers maybe 5 times which cost me about 350 bucks and no Trailer parking around my place to pull from one Corner to the other and catching rust and dust and defects from Long storage. Another Story if you constantly travel around to buy Project and parts cars.

Your cars are all in extraordinary condition, the most I could see for now would be taking the Imperial coupe to the paintshop with some trim off, still operable. Some things needed for safe Operation can still be put off at the shop.

I'd just think it over once more and then put the savings into another car. :p

That is a very good point...I have had the present open pit trailer for about 10 years and you're correct it sits most of the time...But, very handy when needed. I am fortunate to have a cabin property roughly 4 miles away where I can store my trailer(s)see below without any city/resident complaints. Different story at the main residence with an HOA. The coupe is getting the steering box and power steering pump soon...I'm probably going to have her brake power booster rebuilt (like Big Red) and body shop told me they don't want a "dead horse" to push around because of her size so all mechanical stuff first. There are so many unknowns that come about with these behemoths that I think on any given day I might wish I could load one quickly and scoot her off to the shop. That's why a winch is good accessory. Plus, I'm always having to secure a ride to and from shop after drop off if I drive the beasts to shop. I'll have to see what prices are like...I'm looking locally for trailer options because I do like to buy locally if possible.
