I know about the plastic "cup" bushing, but what else actually holds these together? 74 Monaco 2dr hardtop, 2 speed wipers.

You see that groove on the pivot point? That locks on a ridge inside of the plastic cup

make sure you greas them when you change it. Just the part the ball goes in. FYI
