1966 Fury III - Unfinished Project

Welded two sheets of metal together to make a sheet big enough. Welding machine was having a fit and was feeding the wire about three times too fast. Not sure why.

Still, started to rough in the strengthening ribs, got a blister and ran out of time.
Maybe continue tomorrow.

I fixed the turn signal with the bad connector which was shorting out both filaments. Now I have park and turn on both.

Also employed unreasonable force and started straightening the lower edge of the front bumper where it gets all bent up any time the car's towed.

I hate towing bumper and/or strut rod bends. I always have my classics flat bedded when needed.
Yeah, thankfully the suspension appears to be straight, you can see where they hooked into the alignment holes in the front subframe.
I think I shall have to jack the car up and drop it onto the stand a few times to straighten the bumper iron on the driver's side though, it's sitting a bit low and twisted.
Could be worse, the rear bumper is flat in the middle where it's been reversed square on into something solid.
That one's going to be interesting to fix.

Spent a hot afternoon hammering this. Doesn't look like much for the effort.
Need to trim it down but it ate my last cutting discs up, 18ga is generally awkward to work with.

Made up a panel to join to the quarter join. The trunk floor repair panel has been cut a bit small so needed something to meet up with.

This gives the correct lip. The whole assembly is beginning to feel quite solid now.

I don't care for Lincoln Electric wire. Bought some more Forney and it's a lot better to weld with.
So, that's all secured in now.
Couple places that need a little work and one needs a patch but that's fairly easy.

Question: re factory aircon

Where the condenser is from the factory? There's not a huge amount of space on the front side of the slam panel.
Looking to be putting aftermarket air in.

Upcoming weather forecast is rain, rain, rain.
Can someone take a couple detail shots (front, back) of their '66 hood ornament as it sits on the hood please?
I need to make me a plinth for mine and need to see how it looks. Found a few photos on Google but the only close ones tend to avoid the base.

Thanks

Phil
