1969 Imperial progress thread

Hey i dont pay attention to whats going on for a couple of days and then all the excitement happens! Wow i bet you are like a dog with two tails right now Julian, I am loving the car even more. So glad to see you got it!

Congradulations Julian .... I know how excited you must be.

The front seat nuts are accessed from beneith the car, 4 per seat. There may be a large plate obscuring the two inner most nuts. 4 bolts will remove that.

CAREFULLY ...... place your original build sheet into a clear, acid free sheet protector....!! Do this first....! Make copys and then place it in a cool, dark place for storage.
You can then reference, and even write on the copys.

Thanks Will, I am excited! A lot of surface rust but just a few rustholes until now! Solid car :)

I made a good scan from the BS and now I'm putting it into a dark, dry storage. Maybe I'll laminate it but I'm not sure about that...

I am glad the bird finally made it's way home. Congrats Julian. Sorry the car got banged up a little in transport. That sucks. I bet it was tricky moving that beast around with out brakes. I hope you aren't dissapointed. I did my best to describe it and take pics. Enjoy your new project.

Thanks for all your help Dan! I'm not disappointed, i little scared but not disappointed ;)

It was tricky but I made it! (with a lot of great help from friends)

Julian; on the belts, you can indeed put them in cloth bags and run them through the washing machine just fine. You can also take each belt and scrub them with warm, soapy water and a stiff brush (dish soap works great!). Then rinse them under warm water and hang them up so they drip-dry. They will be stiff after they dry, but if you roll them up, then unroll them and repeat several times, they'll loosen up to their original texture and flexibility. Be sure to spray a good dry lubricant into the latches so they don't rust!

Thanks Patrick! I think I will do both. First by hand with most remover to get rid of all the heavy dirt and mold and after that I'll wash them in the washing machine. :)

I'll start working on the sheet tonite.

Can I have a scan of this one Julian?

Like this one.
the cars are very similar but this one was midnight blue metallic, hopefully it still is!

I don't have a scanner at home, so I had to do this today at work.

But here is the right one Matt! Thank you for decoding it for me :)

I hope the other Imp is still alive! Maybe I can find out if its still driving around, I could send the build sheet to the owner of the other Imp..!?

Found this on the back of my seat seat. Can anyone tell me what this is?

And another question..!

Does this little metal plate on the right screw of the fender tag has any meaning?

The general concensis is that it is a assy line inspectors "OK to release" tag. If you clean it up you might fine it stamped with a symbol like a wine glass. There may also be an extra number stamped into the data plate at the top right.

I think that metal tag is a vendor tag I don't know if it is internal to the seat vendor or from spring/frame manufacturer I had those on the seat backs in my challenger.

I have that extra tag as well, with the markings "NY". Does that mean that Neil Young inspected my car?:icon_kidra: After all he was right about rust never sleeping....

Thanks! Good to know :) I'll check mine tomorrow!

Yep .... every mopar I've ever messed with had these tags attached to the seat springs, front, back, bottom and top. You will also find them on GM & FoMoCo products.
I'm thinking they are just code tags so the upholsterer would know what covers to install on them.

Here are all the codes from the sheet. Let me know if you have trouble with my chicken scratch. Some kool options Julian.

The info in rows 3,4 & 5 are the last two digits of those parts numbers and there color where it applies, like X9 for the steering wheel horn pad.
