1970 Fury I stripper!

Definitely a three dog night here in my garage! -3 degrees outside! I’ve got it up to 51 in here so my “helpers” won’t complain.
I did manage to re-assemble the valance and re-installed it on the car.

The carb is ready to go!
When I get an engine it will have been totally rebuilt, whether it’s the original or not remains to be seen.
I’ve gone through this process countless times. An all new engine that needs broken in, have to get the timing set right, carb adjusted, cooling system burped, etc. all while keeping an eye on temperature, oil pressure, leaks, meanwhile the engine is seemingly screaming at 2500.
Oil and paint burning off parts as they get hot…
Fix up old cars they said, it’ll be fun they said!

how long before if you find out if the original engine is saveable ?
They said they would get to it after Christmas. But you know how that is sometimes. If it’s not, I’ll start looking for another. There’s still quite a bit of cleaning I want to do plus sorting out the engine peripherals. So I’ve got plenty to keep me busy!

FINALLY!!! Somebody found a decent Washer Bottle.....Nice save on this Fury, too! [one note on the "Care" of the washer bottle; Don't immerse it in hot water and Dawn dishwashing liquid. The plastic will turn from its milky white color to a see-thru clear, and then the bottle will shrink and crack into 20 pieces right before your eyes. I think the hot water is the real the enemy. But, after that happens, it may take several months of therapy to right yourself.]
Good luck on the project! -Not Right

Thanks for the advice! This one still feels pretty tough. Most of them I’ve had are fragile as an egg shell. I cleaned it up with cold soapy water and a Brillo pad today. I also sanded the motor and painted it with some gold paint. I think this is as good as it can be. It’s functional so that’s a plus!

Most of this paint had long ago flaked off. What remained came off easily.
I probably only put slightly more effort in painting it as factory did.
Semi gloss was used with no primer after scuffing it with 320 grit.

One thing about this car I love/hate…
Black paint does it all! Accessories, frame, body… there’s no contrast. It looks rattle can murdered out. Hopefully the engine painted Chrysler blue will break things up under the hood at least. And the black/blue theme carries over to the inside. Still, no contrast, black, blue, chrome.
Like I said, love/hate.

As the owner of a triple black formal I understand what you mean. You can always use an accent color under the hood for things like master cilinder, vacuum cans, etc. It's what I did anyway

Do you have any pics?
