1970 Fury I stripper!

Not sure, look for a F21 or F72 on the broadcast sheet,

Alan
Lol,Messing around with that broadcast sheet is why I haven’t got the engine out or the brakes working yet! Well, that and I’m fat and lazy. I did find out it has an open 3.55 gear though!

Because the car is in my small garage backwards, we took the engine out from the side. We had to take the wheel off to maneuver the hoist around. We got it out that way maybe easier than taking it out the front like we usually do.
That brake drum looks pretty good,, from the outside anyway.

The clutch/flywheel looks pretty good. Or at least it looks like it came out or 20k mile 52 year old car.

Look at this mess right here! So much sludge in the oil pan it wouldn’t even drip a drop out of the drain plug. And that’s with 2 quarts of kerosene poured in the crankcase 2 days ago.

Have you guys ever seen such? I myself can’t fathom what happened to this car for it to be like this. Overheated? Sabotaged? Somebody put ?? in the crankcase?
It’s going to the machine shop in the morning. Hopefully it can be salvaged but I’m not counting on it.

"Yeah I was tired of having to change my oil filter all the time so I just made a bypass for it, works great! Also, it kept leaking so threw in a couple jugs of stop leak or whatever"

Is that paraffin (wax)? If so, maybe old Pennzoil…
It’s like lumpy cake batter.I had put a quart or two of kerosene in the crankcase 2 days prior so hard telling what it looked like before that. I’ve never seen such crap! I’ve got feelers out for another engine but I’m having this one checked out.

I hope the original numbers block is worthy of saving.
I know, it's just a slanty, but it would still be great to keep the original!

Does the motor have the correct vin stamp on it that match's the car?

It’s not on the deck, if that’s where it should be.

Perhaps the owner was one of those people who say, "This thing will take care of itself," and never do an oil change. I had a buddy in High School whose dad said such a thing. He had two inoperable cars in front of his house.

Those /6 heads are HEAVY! I had a burnt valve in #6 on my '70 Challenger. I pulled the head off, and couldn't stand up straight for a week! I was far more careful putting it back on.

I would not be able to stop my self from doing at least a 360 4bbl swap. My old Fury 440 from the way back machine.

Update: after removing the engine , I did a little cleanup on the under hood area and am getting ready to tackle the brakes.
My machine shop guy retired and closed shop. So, at the moment, I’m considering other options. This engine has multiple issues. There’s not much good I can say about it.

I’m getting close to pulling the engine. Maybe tomorrow. I took some pics of the aforementioned dents, hard to make out in the pics, to me anyway.

Another odd thing about this car is that one key works in every lock. That is to say, the ignition key fits the trunk lock and doors. What’s up with that? I know the door and ignition are typically the same, but the trunk too?

Did you try a screwdriver in the trunk? I'd guess the tumblers are broken.

I'm suggesting that the tumblers in the lock could be broken... Thus allowing any key (or a screwdriver) to work.
That might be the case. I haven’t tried anything else in it. The guy I got it from said the one key does it all and it does. With the seized engine and non-functioning brakes, I don’t question anything that does work!
