1970 Fury I stripper!

Par for the course with most shops. Their money makers are valve jobs and shyte they can pump out. Full rebuilds are loss leaders, really....plus they take up a lot of room. It is what is is. Might as well sell the car....
I understand that but, don’t understand why they take on any job they don’t intend to do.
Sell the car?? Hell no! I’m doing a LS swap to it now!

You know who you sound like?

I’ve pulled Mickey out of the garage with the old Scout. Hopefully, I’m making some headway on machining the engine and head but I’m not counting my chickens just yet.
Meanwhile, I buffed the hood. Looks pretty good for 53 year old acrylic enamel!

Another step. Plus a line on getting it bored. Even if I have to buy a Van Norman 777 and do it myself!

Closer and closer…. I’m probably jinxing myself, but the block is supposed be being bored as I write this. Hopefully I’ll be able to post some assembly pics in a week or so.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the nice weather by going topless with the scout.

The combination of decking the block, shaving the head, boring out .030 , 3 angle valve job, and this cam should net me an additional 10 hp! And maybe 15ft more stump pulling torque! Woooo!
I always use moly rings even though it takes a long time for them to break in as opposed to cast.
Why, I don’t know.
Here’s they are along with standard main and rod bearings and a complete gasket kit from Fel-Pro

Mickey is missing the insulation under the hood. I didn’t spring for the expensive stuff. This is the paper out of the plastic bag the cheap stuff came in.
“Absorb Soudn” indeed.
I laid it it the living room floor so it would flatten out and now I can’t hear the TV!

Even though this looks bad in the picture, in person it looks worse. Much worse. I might paint it with some high heat flat black. Although I believe it will fall off soon enough.
Gotta have some laughs along the way and let the rough ends drag!

Polished, chamfered and ready.. won’t be long now!
This crank is original to the car. I’ll also be using the original head and intake. The head should be done soon and the block is being finish honed right now.
