1971 Plymouth Sport Fury GT Brogham & U code Super Comando

I am pretty sure this center cap was last used on the 1973 models, and the smooth end caps were used from 1974 and later models.

Nope...74 and used in the B Body line up too...here's a factory pic showing them on a 74 Sebring. The smooth end caps arrived with and were used a lot in Cordoba advertising in 75 on the Urethane rims.

actually he asked me last night to source some out...sooooo where can l find body bushings for a C body?

Have you tried sources like Energy suspension? I know they make muscle car stuff...perhaps some B Body bushings will work on a C.

not haveing much luck here re the bushings...A..dont know what they look like...anyone have any bushing pics for 71 fury?

thanx....may come down to paul shooting me some pics and measurements and either making or trying to match something up

Love the progress pic's, hope you find something that will match up for body bushings

I think it would be worthwhile taking measurements of all the bushes you have on your car then calling PST and discussing with them what sort of kit they could assemble for you out of their parts bin to give you what you need. They have a range of different bushes that I am sure could be made to work. If they are able to come up with a complete package that works with what they already have available then they could sell that as a kit for all 71-73 C-body owners.

that kit may be only ticket but like the idea about calling pst...it kills me that lm not able to be hands on with the car right now

just thinkin...may be good idea to just round up all the bushings and send to pst to match up...calls to make monday am...

Measure them and machine them out of Delrin rod.
Give me an old manual Bridgeport and even I could make them.

Nicely done, I will be doing this too, one question though. Did you coat the inside of the chassis frame before painting it? I will be using internal chassis coater on mine, it is zinc infused so will add to the rust protection. In fact from using the stuff before I have a firm belief that it is the same as zinc chromate used in the aircraft industry. I haven't looked too hard at that yet but I will be researching it more.

I'd be interested to know what kind of applicator is used to coat the insides of these rails. As is, there is not a lot of access to the inside surfaces and would not want to drill holes to gain access. For the outside, I used straight up POR15, top coated with gloss black. I'm pretty sure it won't rust again in my lifetime, but would be nice to know the inside is also protected.

Have a look at this product, I bought a quart of the paint and used the flexible tube to apply inside rails, the tip has three orifices the paint sprays out of so it gets all round inside.

Update for Case #4417 - "body bushings"
Hello Derek,

Instead of sending the bushings to us, can you send me some basic dimensional specs of the mounts and what I will do is a preliminary search of the mounts that we have to see if there is something that matches or is close that can be modified slightly. Please send specs and photos to the following email jfrom@p-s-t.com

Thanks

Subject: body bushings

Dear PST...am presently restoreing a 1971 plymouth sportfury GT
and can not find a set of body bushings for my build anywhere..
Was wondering what the possibillities of sending my exsisting bushings in to you folks to match up from your exsisting product line?
With Carliles hosting the year of the Mopar C body would be a good opportunity to fill a need and create buissness for yourself as alota folks are going to start restoreing these old C bodys over the next few years.
Presently am running a build thread of my GT and the inquireies as to where to get body mount bushings for C bodys in the build thread and will include it with this request

http://www.forcbodiesonly.com/mopar...ry-GT-Brogham-amp-U-code-Super-Comando/page21

Thanx Kindly
Derek

....so am gona go this route and see what we can match up for our C bodys......if l can put a kit together will ensure l record part numbers then those of us with C bodys will finally have a body bushing kit and a place to get it from...least thats the end result lm huntin and it looks like PST is willing to see what it can do for us....

been busy huntin bushins and decided to step it up a tad......

Good work Derek. If you get successful, I would be right behind you in an effort to get some as well for a bunch of my cars. All my stub frames will be restored like yours and those old bushings are pretty wasted.
