'65 New Yorker bringing it back to life thread-

I'll check out those links. I am betting the carb needs rebuilt...

I wont give up on her, just more issues than planned. The way the car was described when bought was- new gas tank, new gas/brake lines and new tires and she will be good to go...
This is a sign of either a naive or inexperienced person when it comes to old cars, the seller that is.

What gas do you run with this? I added the lead additive in my last tank, but in Long Island it's a ***** trying to find ethanol free gas. Do you have to change the carb mixture as well?
Run the highest octane you can get with the marine oil RIP mentioned.

Scored a set of 205 65 15 Kelly tires, free. 1/2 life still in them.

Current tires are slow leakers, rotted/cracked- easily 20+ years old...
These will let you move it around, but the speedometer would read way too fast.

X3 or maybe even 4 by now on the marine 2-cycle with the gas. I’m not even scientific about it anymore, usually 3 to 4 glugs per tank. I’ve been running it since it was mentioned the first time on this forum so I’m going to say 15k miles of trouble free(In that regard) driving.

I'm definitely going to run it. It's real easy to find anything marine based on Long Island... Lol.

Thanks for the vote of confidence

These are starting to clean up better than I expected-

Your seats look really nice. How wide are your seats? These covers are not wide enough for my NYer.

Front or back? Or both?

My front seats fit nice, with room to spare. The backseat was a stretch, and came a little short in a couple spots, but barely noticable.

I'll go measure.

The back seat is 58" wide, but with how they fit in snug, it's not noticable on either side.
