'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

Dave hit the nail on the head.

I started it, I won't stop till I drive it home, or better yet do a nice smokey peel in front of everyone who said I couldn't.

Bought a set of 1971 340 J code 2.02 valve heads for my 318, 5 heads for $125.

Good deal on the heads if they aren't cracked. Make sure you get them magnufluxed for cracks before you put any money in them or install them.

already have an appointment with the machine shop, I was told soon as I get them, he wants me to hot tank them and disassemble them, then they will be magnufluxed.

Got the rest of the info on the heads, turns out they are 20 minutes from my friends house, he said he'd be more than happy to go give them a look over and pick them up for me this weekend, I have to go out his way for a show we are both going to, and will pick them up from him then. He's a great friend and a Mopar guy too (his first car was a '69 Dart 2 door hard Top, he still has it, and another '69 2 door post, as well as his newest toy, a '69 Fargo 100)

This is Mark's 1969 Fargo 100 (it has two different styles of dogdishes because the day he bought it, it had 16" on the front, 15" on the rear, it now has all 15"). 46,000 miles, bought new where Mark lives and was taken with the owner to Arizona, it came back with the owner and was sold to a body shop owner, he changed the faded blue paint to the red & white which was done correctly (took the cab all apart, pulled to bed off), it's not perfect, it's a driver, Mark loves going to the lumber yard with it and watching the look in peoples faces when he loads 4' x 8' sheets of plywood or 2" x 4" in it.

Mark plans to do a similar head swap and has already changed to 4 of the 15" steel wheels and dog dishes aswell as removing the mudflaps and changing the aftermarket bumper (which was there from day 1) to a factory style bumper.

That is a very cool truck! I like it a lot! What does it have for an engine/txsm?

Thanks guys, gives me hope having smaller things done, the bigger things have me slightly worried about meeting my goals.

Edit: my buddy got my Cylinder heads today, he says the guy had a hidden cashe of Mopars:

69 Swinger turquoise with white interior stripe and vinyl roof and a slant 6 with 4bbl.

69 Valiant drag car with a stroker motor in it.

71 Road runner yellow 318 car

67 Dart convertible command 273 auto project.

how well do you think it will hold up to use and cleaning? might have to pick some up

Well I've been using it for years on model cars of which I regularly polish, it may peel YEARS from now, but it'll probably still be good, I have friends who foiled models 20 years ago that still look perfect.

Getting ready for the weekend, Picked up some weld thru primer and some more Copper wire for my Mig, gotta clean up the rear frame rails and finish the interior floors Saturday, Sunday I have to head to the otherside of Ontario and Pickup my new (-used) 340 J code heads.

Planning out my Engine project next, just figured out my order from Summit:

Fram Air filter
Fram PCV
Fram Clear fuel filter
Stant 180 Degree thermostat
Summit True Roller Timing chain
Autolite Copper plugs
Fel-pro full gasket set
Accel Dizzy cap & rotor
Accel Points and Condensor

Also ordered a quart of Chrysler Engine blue from Eastwood (among other things)

So thats a fair bit of my paycheck already spent.
