'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

Nick, tell your father I think he is a very wise man. I see where you get your values from.

the thing that sealed the deal was my dad seeing the car for the first time in a few months... and the fact that I'm not like everyone's kids they know (drugs, drinking, trouble, unemployed, summer school, having to repeat a grade ETC)

So as my dad put it, it's a interest free gift for not screwing up my life.

Your parents did a hell of a job raising you!

I would be proud to call you Son too!!!

:eek:ccasion14:
Thank you Bob, there's quite a few guys here that would be pretty good stand-in dads if need be.

Hey Nick, it's great that the old man is in a position to help out & realizes how much you deserve it. I cant wait to see this car in Ivy (my youngest daughter's name by the way if I haven't mentioned that already).
You never mentioned that Ross, whats Ivy think of the Color F8?

Excellent news Nick. Be. Certain to pay them back. ....

Dave, when I found out the envelope hadn't reached you, It drove me crazy, I couldn't sleep worth a crap, I can't owe anyone anything, hence my "if I can't pay cash for it I don't need it attitude"

unless I have the cash in hand or can go get it in hand, I don't buy a thing.

My parents will see every cent, and my dad will certainly get some enjoyment out of going to shows and cruise nights with me, he already does.

Thank you Stan, he's a smart man, and he's taught me well, people have tried to insult me by saying "your just like your father", I don't see that as a bad thing.

Nick

Ross now prolly calls her F8 when he's in a hurry. :)

You are already far richer now than 98% of us will ever be.
I hated my father.
Stan, I did for a while, until one day while working on "Angel" It hit me, all the things that my dad has sacraficed to help me in my lifetime, all the things he did to make my life easier and as good as it has been, he taught me all the things that my grand fathers forgot to, and between the 3 of them, I am who I am.

I am fortunate enough to have both strong men and women in my life 2 generations back and an Aunt and Uncle all living on the family farm with in a mile of each other. I grew up in an environment, where hard work was part of my life early on, and my Grandfather being creative in making something work with what was laying around the shop and a hammer or a welder.

You really can't get in trouble with all those influences, it was like I had 3 mothers and 3 fathers. Nick you definitely have those great influences in your life, but I can't come close to your ambitions at such a young man. It is great to hear you will be getting Angel painted up this year, you deserve it and your father know it.

Thanks Mike, the only thing I can honestly say I wish I had the chance to do was to have the car finished by August 13th, but that's not happening, so I'll have to take my truck,

August 13th is the 10th anniversary of my grandfathers passing, as my dad says at this point in my life he would have been my best friend, he was the guy in the neighborhood who everyone brought their cars too, he could fix anything, using almost nothing, My dad says that I'm a lot like him, my grandpa ordered a '69 Newport Custom in F8 with a matching green interior back in September '68, 440 with 727, he loved that car.

I only wish he could be with me riding shotgun on the Fury's Maiden Journey.

I know he will be anyway though.

Anyway,

Tinkered for a fair bit of the day, got some bigger things done, still have lots to do, I love the Articulating Wipers, by far one of my favorite points of design on this car.

Nick

The minute I put the wipers back on the car it started to rain........

Articulating as-in that they park out of sight when off?

No, the drivers side wiper articulates as it approaches the windshield pillar to wipe to that edge completely without leaving a triangle of unwiped glass. It was a popular addition in the late '60s/early '70s before Detroit figured out how to do the same thing with less cost.

Bingo, Greg nailed it on the head, the left wiper (drivers) articulates to sweep the entire windshield.

Anyway. Got the manifolds, wiper motor painted, cleaned the Original starter up, and will re-install them all this week, also have been working in my truck, and yes that is a picture of a picture thats on my phone. Technology is not my friend.

I believe this is what it "should" have looked like

aftermarket? Really? O.K..... It is your car anyway, I have seen them painted, I like them not .
I believe it has been replace, the wires have been cut and spliced, it works, I have another that looks like the one in the photo, bu it doesn't work.

I have to have wipers that work to safety the car.
