'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

I don't know how you do it.........

Patience and the fact that I WILL drive this car in the spring.............

Hmm I seem to remember it being worse....

WTH is this crap?

Junk in the Trunk

Yep definitely built on a Sunday, my Trunk Jack instruction sticker was crooked

The back panel felt kinda loose, so I welded it to some 1/8th inch steel and welded that to the frame rails, much better, still need to finish back here and seal it all then a coat of DOM 16

After a rough start this morning..............I headed home and then to Angel.....

Got ride of that red, it ain't coming back, everything is torqued to spec, I still need to clean the paint off a few things and add a few more gaskets. Will need to paint the pan when I get it up in the air.GEDC1330.jpg

Previous owner and my friend said near the end the Fury had bad brakes........

So.........................we caught the tail end of the storm that hurt Illinois pretty bad, it didn't spare Angel any, my day started at 3 AM on Monday, Uncle called, Tent had tried to run away, So I came and did what I could, it was blowing towards the fence, at 7 PM I got another call, it was going the other way, towards the back yard..........

So Angel escaped with a new dent and his tent escaped with a few bent poles, and one snapped off pole, which I guess I'll have to weld or something.

Ended up with today off work (I think it's the first time in 2 years I've had an unscheduled day off)

So I brought some tools, engine hoist home and borrowed a friends trailer, car came out of the tent (I owe my uncle some lawn, apparently my 3.08 open diff in the truck rather disliked the wet lawn on the cold rainy day and the slight incline didn't help) And tomorrow the 360 comes out and the 318 goes in, then my focus shifts to body and paint............

Nice to see the 318 going back home. Well done and congrats at another milestone.
Thank you Fred, it's a good feeling to see a 318 in that engine bay, Even better feeling to know I'm crossing things off my long list at a steady pace.

Stan, I remembered seeing a quote one;

Determination Gives you the resolve to keep going in spite of the road blocks that lay ahead of you. Denis Waitley was the author of that quote.

it was on the same page as a quote by Colin Powell that describes my Fury very well.

A dream doesn't become reality by magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.

Just when you thought I died, I have returned from the dead!GEDC1474.jpgGEDC1468.jpgGEDC1469.jpgGEDC1470.jpgGEDC1473.jpg

Took a cruise up to see the guy with the '69 Fury Sedan and '69 Newport an hour $100 and my old tail lights later I have 3 good tail lights sans cracks with good bezels, an NOS lens (for a Fur I or II though) a better ish fender and a perfect trunk lid, he actually is a bodyman by trade and pulled the skin off the lid, cleaned the structure, did the lip and resembled it. So thats off my list.

Nick

Going to pick up some free stuff tomorrow from a friend.

Naaaaaaaaaaa I know that I thought you were buried in a pile of snow or were stranded in an igloo !!

Yes, I thought you might be in hibernation mode. It looks like all the snow has some down and socked us in, I still see green grass in your yard.

Nice finds and it sounds like you have another good contact for the future too. Glad to see the ball is still rolling on your ride.

Standard Canadian year round accommodations in case anyone didn't know...

There you go propogating that silly myth. We already have a hard enough time telling our southern neighbours that we don't ski all year round or walk with polar bears daily.

I believe you; I've been to Canada once about 33 years ago. :)

It's cold, I've never up typing for today.

Me Rambling about Angel, showing what I've done and bitching about the -26 Celcius weather.

BTW, I just figured out recently this "Project Ivy" thing and where you got the name from.
