'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

Looks like you've lost weight and are five inches taller.... you sure thats you?

NOt that I want to see it happen but not selling everything together would increase your monetary intake.......

Hell, the road wheels should get you $500 for two sets...

and why arent you wearing your C body shirt? That could be your problem.

I was about 180 back then, I'm down around 150ish, I was about 5'9" now I'm about 5'11", I hopped in the truck this morning and started to drive, now sitting here at nearly 11PM, I have 4 more Small Block Dodge distributors, 125 miles more on my truck, and have had 5 phone calls returned, one from Patt and Moparfest, One from Nigel at National Moparts, and two from friends, and one from a special someone.............Patt says I can bring the Fury no matter what condition it's in, Nigel says he has the parts I requested in, my one friend told me to come get the distributors, the other invited me over for dinner and well the other phone call was private.

So...................I'm still thinking..........

Wow. I had to reread all this to really believe what I'm reading. Your giving up on this, Nick? I won't say that you can cause I'm not in your shoes....but ,think about it long and hard. Some decisions will haunt us forever. Once its gone, its gone. Either way I wish the best for you.

I'm not sure if I'm giving up, I don't know yet..................I don't want to regret any decisions...............and I would hate to see what someone would do to him.........

Nick

Finding out my Numbers 318 was gone was a major upset to me..............I like Original, Somehow a replacement doesn't feel the same.........

A friend of mine has a '70 GT V code he's restoring..........it made my car look rust free, but he's got the space and money to do it right........he not rebodying it, he bought a '70 Sport Fury Coupe and is chopping it up to repair his V Code.

Like I say I gotta do some thinking................
First of all having a #'s matching makes no difference to the vast majority of C Bodies particularly when it comes to value. Don't lose sleep over it. I'm wondering if there's some BB envy going on here wrt what your buddy is doing with the 70 GT. When you are driving down to Carlisle with your 318 car and other BB owners can't afford to you will quickly get over it.

Nick,
We started our projects around the same time. I haven't posted on your thread at all since the beginning, but believe me I've been following it. The work you've done to your car thus far is nothing short of amazing as well as inspiring! My 2¢ may only be worth 2¢ but, I would hate to see you throw in the towel at this point. You've come too far. When you bought your car I'm sure you envisioned yourself cruising down the road with the top down. Enjoying the very beauty of being in a wonderful "old" car that you've put together yourself. With your own two hands. Originality is a wonderful thing. I do get it. But... there will be time for that down the road. If I were in your shoes ,especially considering how far you've come, I believe I'd get the car running and driving. Enjoy it for what it is, a 1969 Fury convertible that you rescued and revived with your own two hands and a lot of grit and determination. Later on as time and funds allow you can replace things to more original standards. And more to your liking. A project is never "done" after all...
Keep on keepin on!!

Do it for your own good Man! You will NEVER forgive yourself for not seeing it through. Numbers matching is very nice to be able to tout but I'm seven years in on a non numbers matching '68 RR. When it comes right down to it I'm going to start downsizing here shortly and what I think I will be left with in the end will be my silver Imperial and that RR and I will have sold off 3 all numbers matching musclecars.

You selling or already sold the Coronet R/T (or am I confused again?) and what about the Challenger Matt? I was looking forward to seeing R/T done someday

Also concur about numbers matching thing .. it doesn't bother me at all the I don't have the numbers matching engine for my RR but I know the story and it's pretty cool. Matter of fact I'm actually relieved I don't have the numbers engine for it but I'm glad to know the story.

Nick you need to get it running and I need to get my junk running I've had that damn Charger for over ten years never drove it anywhere legal, its probably going to be a father son project so thats why I'm trying to get somewhere with Barracuda now. All work on a car and no enjoyment is a quick way to let all the air out of your motivation balloon.

I took another drive today, went and someone between her homework then while I was in Ajax I stopped at the old Chrysler Interior plant............got me thinking..............I stopped in and saw my grandma talked to her for a while.............then I went up to the Cemetery and stopped and saw my Grandpa...............Thats when it hit me.........

I realized why I NEED to finish this car...............I remembered the meaning it has to me..........It re-light the fire.................My Goal is Moparfest, August 16th, That gives me 19 weeks...........he's gonna be ugly, but he's going to be there, and if he's running, he's going to be paraded all over New Hamburg.

I headed home, And did some work, I have a fender thats "good enough" to go back on. I have a 360 thats ready to go. I'll list it shortly on the local Kijiji

Grandma wants me to take her and she said "All the old ladies for a ride in the convertible"

I'll be damned if I'm going to not fulfill that, Besides I gotta take Grandpa places too, gotta spend time with my grandparents I still have.

Knocked all the paint and rust off and shot some primer, this is the only original body panel I kept, well it and the front filler panel.

You hit a rough patch.
And you got through it.
It happens to everybody up North by the end of Feb. or so.
Cabin fever and daylight deprivation.
The days are getting longer and warmer again.

Good news my goal is making passes at monster Mopar weekend in Norwalk painted or not if we keep you motivated it might keep this old fart motivated as well.

This is great advise Nick. Enjoy Angel for what he is, Not what he was or could be.

And goals are a good motivator too, but be perpaired in case your goal can't be met.

I know your on a budget but finding and buying a low cost collector car that you can use and enjoy at local cruise in's and shows will take a lot of pressure off the Fury project. It could be a 4 door sedan but it might provide the needed "fix" to maintain your motivation.

Whatever ...... glad to see you come out of your "slump", it happens to all of us.
