73 Monaco wagon

The clicking is the circuit breaker. The door has hit its stop and the motor is still trying to open or close it.

I had an R-body New Yorker do the same thing. There is a limit/park switch in the motor that turns the motor off when it hits the end of its travel.

Mine was good to close it but the circuit breaker clicked when open.

I just unplugged the motor when it was open and left them that way unless I was at a show. Sold the car before I got around to fixing it right.

Can you tell me where the breaker is? The under dash area is like a fortress the designers didn't want non-dealership hands to enter! I think I see it in a nearly inaccessible area to the lower left of the steering wheel. I got a replacement from Murray Parks. I didn't see anything easily accessible by the fuse panel. Thanks for the info.

My heater/AC control lever got stuck. I need to figure that out too.

On my R-body IIRC it was in the vicinity of the headlight switch. Not positive tho. I do remember leaving it clicking until I located it. I seem to recall removing a lower panel under the column on the dash to access it.

Ok, I just measured again on my car and they were a little over 67 and 3/4". I just want to make sure it's a match. The profile looks the same, I can't imagine C-D-P using that wide a variety of trim strips.
 
Looking at carpet from Stock Interiors. Can't find a good match in color for the samples they sent. Is there a better source than S.I. for carpets? Also looking for a headliner.

New samples from Stock Interiors. Still not satisfied with color match. Probably a product of fade. New carpet swatches are very shiny too.

Dropped the wagon of at the local speed/resto shop. Never dealt with them before. The mechanic introduces himself as a Mopar guy whose dad drove a DeSoto. I am impressed. He is really conscientious and is getting at all the detail things that would have taken me a year of Saturdays to get to.

Putting in a dual exhaust and he changed out all the plugs and the dist. cap and rotor. Looking forward to getting a freer-breathing car back. With some revitalized pep.
 
I asked him to get the brake lights working. He ended up changing out almost every bulb in the car. I don't mind, I like attention to detail. He owns a Roadrunner and has spent years getting it together. He's going through the brake system. The steering box leaks, the box may end up getting replaced, we'll see...the trans rear seal leaks, he may have fixed that by now...he has installed a new Mahle cork-and-steel transmission pan seal, he drained not just the transmission but the torque converter too. The left front turn signal bezel is getting installed (it got banged up at some point by previous owner). I'm getting a quote on paint but that is going to have to wait $$$$...it's going to be nice to get it back when it's done. Can't wait to hear the dual exhaust. A little bit at a time.

He tells me (with a smile and a twinkle in his eye) I can make this sleepy 400 into a Stroker 451, with a 440 crank and pistons. (if only Santa Claus was real, if only Santa Claus was real... maybe next year).

I could see this car as an excellent tow vehicle of an Airstream, or hauling a trailered-show Mopar.

One thing at a time...

Not yet. I'm not satisfied with the (lack of) color matching from Stock Interiors. If anyone knows of another source for carpets let me know. The funny thing is the carpet that came out of the car was so faded it looked gold-brown compared to the 'pea soup green' kick panels on the doors and the back of the front seats.

The steel floor boards are solid after years in the Oregon desert, thankfully, but I do need to put down some por15 or scrub with naval jelly to prep the surface for paint at the front floorboard. I guess I am thinking I'll do that once the warm weather returns, and I'm considering dynamat under the carpet to preserve the quietness. When I let off the gas it's been really quiet when going downhill, for an old car.

And once that is done... THEN I'll figure out a carpet solution...and a headliner solution...and an A/C solution....etc....
 
The loop in the second samples looks like the correct style of carpet. I had a good source for my carpet. I will look through my receipts tomorrow and find my supplier. I am very happy with mine. I would pick a color you like, and one that complements the exterior color. No point in matching the carpet it has clearly faded.
 
Hey! Thanks for the info! Yes it may be hard to get a match after all these years. I want to get some soap and warm water and clean the dinginess out of the kick panel carpets. They may brighten up slightly. I'll look over those sites. Thanks a lot!
 
FYI couldn't think of it last night. I used SMS for my car too.
