C Bodies at Carlisle!

I'm not making any promises but I'd love to be there. I'm making some very big changes to my business at the moment and the next year is going to be a very crucial and busy. I may do Moparfest though this coming year as I could use a break from the WDC Saturday.

C'mon Matt.....

There will NEVER be another homage to C-Bodies at Carlisle in our lifetime.

I know, I know but that doesn't really change things on my end. Taking the Imperial on a trip like that is a pretty big commitment of time and money and it's quite possible that a lot of mine is going to be unavailable, time and money that is...

You don't have to drive the Imperial (although it would be nice). 8 hours drive late Friday and Saturday at Carlisle. Drive home Sunday.

I used to drive down (6 hours) in the wee hours of Saturday and drive back that night... So it can be done!

There's no doubt John and I'd love to see everybody but not drive my Imp to an event like that?? That'd be tough!

You could drive "BUTTERSCOTCH" and we'd letcha park with the other C-bodyz. Even tho' that beauty would definitely not get lost in the sea of E-bodyz. Hell, I'll be there with either my turbo Scamp or the new 30 year old J-body. (a LeBaron coupe for the unwashed)

Well yes and no...it's becoming aparent that I need to rebuild or replace the rear axle center section. I've had a clunking noise that I haven't been able to pinpoint since I've owned the car. I always assumed it was suspension related since the rear springs are worn, shocks need to be replaced, torsion bar isolators were shot, track bar bushings are in need of replacing, etc.. The clunk happens under slightly harder acceleration and up till yesterday it wouldn't have kept me from driving it. The last road trip of this season I pulled the plug on the diff to check the lube level and gave the wheels a spin while looking in the hole and swore that it looked like the pinion was moving in ways that it shouldn't have. Because of the helical gears on it making it difficult to confirm I dismissed it and kept driving. Yesterday I needed to move it in my shop from where it'd been parked for a couple of weeks and I noticed a 6" puddle below where the rear end was. So besides the front caliper job this winter I now need to further investigate that situation. Is this a deal breaker for next season?, no but I have a major project that I haven't had much time for on the convertible that absolutely needs to be finished this winter. I need to get that car back on the road for my dads sake for next season, he keeps asking.
Most importantly I'm building a new and much larger wood/metal shop within my building and turning my current small wood shop into a showroom and gallery space right now and this is going to take time and money to pull off not to mention although I'm confident in the decision, it's still risky and is a very big deal to me. This is why I say no promises.

Actually, Matt, it sounds like you're in a very good place in your life at this time.
I admire you. My highest respect always goes to a man that juggles good honest hard work at his craft along with the simple pleasures of life.
Critter also immediately comes to mind.

Please post pictures of the wood shop project progress.

I'll get some better pics this week but this space is basically about 1200 sq ft and wide open. It really put the squeeze on the car space.

Matt, you lucky bast..., eh buddy.
That's my "Acme Workshoppe" for the Moment and still have to spare spaces with the local meth lab. :laughing4:
Just building a workbench over the stairs of the single Garage. I sure can't wait for the other storage building to be erected.

More focus on the Cs... and a acknowledgement for FCBO and the DD

That's cool... it bothers me that every time an article goes out the prices seem to go up... but these are beautiful underappreciated cars I would like to see get more support. If I can get one and the time off... I have always wanted to go to Carlisle.

Big fan of Hemmings too, they repeat a little...but its a dying business to put out such a quality book. Do dislike the get rich quick mentality that is in more and more of the adds... but still see lots of fair prices too.

I'll have to send them a correction....

The C-body thus made it through the 1977 model year before the M- and R-bodies took over the C-body’s more famous nameplates

Yeah, I saw that . Ive done the whole correction thing with magazines, its like talking to a wall
