Cool "Car Art" Illustrations

cannot find a real car that looks like this illustration (especially the grille). Anyway, all the skiers are making car-related comments about "George's" sled.

My first reaction was a "Canadian Ford Falcon", circa 1962 . . . but can't explain the T-bird style roof line that early. Might need to do some more looking. Allegedly only 16 Frontenac 4-dr sedans remain in existence? The Canadian Maple Leaf are in the grille and front fender emblems.

uPDATE -- The roofline was on the '60 Mercury Comet. The hood scoop chrome appeared on '62 Falcons, as the body side contours seem to fit better with the '62 Falcons, too. Allegedly, Frontenac was a 1960 only car?

There is one of these 1960 Frontenacs in the Canadian Automotive Museum in Oshawa, Ontario. I saw it when I was there this past summer. Someone else posted these pics of it online.

A Frontenac Helps Celebrate Canada Day

The only Frontenacs I heard of up till now were the race cars built in Indianapolis by the Chevrolet Brothers, some based on Model T Fords, some on others.

Love those illustrations. Keep 'em coming.
My Dream Job as a kid. As it turned out the neat artwork was replaced by photography about the time I finished college.
Good thing I went the Architecture route.
The grainy or antique looking illustrations above print out very nicely on canvas print paper.

One of the best known German Illustrators who was an avid Defender of American car design of the 50s and 60s was Walter Gotschke. An article about European shortcomings in design caused the end of his assignment with Mercedes Benz. Later worked for German Ford where among many others These illustrations were created. First car is the (in)famous Ford Cardinal that Henry Ford II planned as a domestic Bug-beater and "gave away" to Ford Europe as the Ford Taunus 12 M in the last Minute to be built as a competitor for VW and Opel overseas. The German engineers ironed out a few bugs of some very cheap construction Details and it sold pretty well then. He was also very prolific in paintings of famous racing Scenes and Posters for racing Events.

The other one is the slightly larger 17 M model.
