Dennis. That's his name.

I've been drilling spot welds all week, basically what I've found is, between the two donors I have a rust free replacement firewall for my car.

Okay, I've been neglecting the Fury lately, mostly because I'm about to embark on the worst of the firewall next.

I've pulled apart the last of the donor firewalls. Last weekend I finished the shortblock for the car, which I'm happy with, for the first time since I've owned the car, the timing mark on the balancer and timing cover actually line up.

I'm sure the car will run better with a fresh engine compared to the completely worn out engine it had while I had been driving it.

I also bought a few new shops toys recently. which meant I needed to build a stand for it. I also made a shelf on the engine stand using the new brake.

PS the oil filter adapter is still loose, I moved it where it is to get it out of the way.

Added a few bonus pictures of my current means of employment, I swear, every job I take is a step forward, but I'm sick of moving my tool box.

I put new bulbs in my garage as well, comparison is below.

New job? Are you at liberty to discuss? Regardless, congrats on another step up. My career involved moving the box about every 2 years or so... let me work on a lot of stuff, but robbed me of the opportunity to really settle in and kill flat rate consistently. IDK if there is any good advice... lots of good situations turn bad. Lots of unusually good ones out there too.

Good luck and thanks for the updates.

I got word that CBC wouldn't be renewing my contract, my buddy ppreviously mentioned a job with him at Jensen Trailers...I left CBC Friday and started here Monday.
In the time I've been here I've been taught to Weld aluminum and to TIG weld.

I genuinely like my boss and coworkers as well.

Plus better pay and closer to home.

I finished up mounting things and cleaning the shop last night.

I'm calling in a lot of favors and cashing some markers and IOU's,

I want the car finished for Moparfest in August.

Seems like you just went through this. Is it because you chipped the paint on a new van?

No, that was nothing. People write vans off monthly and don't even get an *** chewing....

Guy I was filling in for came back full-time.

Writing was on the wall...

Does this mean we won't see you again at Carlisle?

Unfortunately not. Checked to see if I could get a few days off, but my co-worker has that week booked off.

Unfortunately he and I are the entire shop, so I'm stuck.

Oh well..

Aluminum welding with the TIG or with the MIG? Aluminum is the one metal I have never tried to weld, I keep thinking I need a TIG machine.
We more often use the MIG for the aluminum, but we run a Argon/Helium mix gas through it for the aluminum.

I've done both TIG and MIG with aluminum, TIG is nicer, but more time consuming and therefore costly for us.
The guys in our shop weld aluminum all day long with mig welders. We have a tig too, but it spends more time collect dust than it does welding.

Bingo, we rarely use the TIG welder, if I had to guess, the next time it gets used will be when I do my exhaust for this car

Like I said, in the shop is just myself and my buddy who gave me a leg up for the job. He's a great guy and good friend. And as a bonus, he's a Mopar guy too, who's into the big cars. Below are his 74 and 57.

Sorry about that. I somehow missed seeing you at Carlisle last year and was hoping you would show up again this year. But I guess its a good thing you have a job now that you like and can be stuck in it . . .

The longer I do this car, the more I want it done "right"....it's becoming an affliction. I had to regroup and ended up hacking all of what I did back out.......

I figured out where I went wrong and was able to backtrack to that point so that I could progress correctly...

Clean it all up tonight and weld it in...
